After much discussion about booking our disney trip for the spring, my husband informs me that if I would wait until summer or fall we could stay longer. (basically because we would have more money saved by then). I see so many of you have been at all different times of the year. What is the best time of the year to go? I really dont want to go when its a 100 degrees. I would love your disney knowledge. We have never been and our children who are 6 and 9 are dying to go.

Robin,
We are also from NC. Our favorite time to visit the Ft. is in October. The crowds are low and the weather is warm. We usually go about the 3rd week in October when the Food & Wine Festival is going on at Epcot, and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is going on at the Magic Kindom. Our 7 y/o daughter is in the year round school system here in Wake County, so it makes it much easier for us to go at this time. Hope this helps!

Well, unless Heat, Rain, and Crowds don't bother you I would go anytime other than June, July, or August. The holidays and spring break are crowded but the weather is much more likely to be nice. We like early March and November best.

Another vote for the fall. We have done both late October and early November, and both are nice. For those of us from the cold North, it makes summer seem a little bit longer, and winter a little bit shorter.::MickeyMo

We just went Dec 11-19 and never saw a line. It was great. My kids will remember the 15 minutes they had Cinderella all to themselves for a very long time princess:

Well, until FW created the "Pre-Holiday Season" for pricing we always went in early December.

It's usually quiet and the weather is usually nice. The afternoon rain is not as common and it actually can be quite warm. It may sound funny but I've spent a lot of time in the pool in December.

Happy camping

Tim,
What is the pre holiday season exactly at FW?? We actually thought about making this our childrens christmas gift. I bet its very crowded between christmas and News Years!!!!

Up until 2003, as with all resorts at Disney World, the years was broken down into four "seasons", with a different price during each season. They were (from highest cost to lowest) Holiday Season, Peak Season, Regular Season and Value Season. Starting in 2004 they have added a "Pre-Holiday" season for the November/December time frame which had always been value season. The Pre-Holiday season will be priced between Regular season and Value season ($4 more per site).

As I said in another post, it's all about supply and demand. Because prices were low and the holiday decorations were up people began to gravitate top that time frame. As occupancy rates went up, they looked for ways to make more money.

So now FW has "Pre-Holiday Season"

Don't get me wrong, it is a beautiful time to visit Disney. While FW occupancy is higher (i.e. snowbirds with their multi month discounts) the parks are usually slower. The decorations are up and it is a wonderful time.

I have been there in December and ran arond in shorts and swam every day. Other years (like this one) it is a little cooler and the pool may not be the best place to be.

Also can anyone tell me exactly when they put the christmas decorations up at WDW???

Thanks

By the weekend following Thanksgiving everything is decorated. Some resorts a little earlier.
