When to go....mid August or early January?

I am trying to plan our family trip and not sure when to go. My DD is in college, so we have to plan around her schedule. We will be staying at the Beach Club and plan on using the great pool there. This will affect our plans, I think. We are looking at either the third week in August or the second week in January. Are the heat and crowds of August worth the longer hours and pool enjoyment or would we be better with the cooler weather, lower crowds and shorter park hours of January?

I would recommend January. To me the point of going is to be in the parks and attraction in some degree of comfort. So that eliminated August for 2 reasons: Heavy crowds and the heat. I can stay home and swim during the summer.

We are going in late January and have also been during early February. No crowds and virtually no waiting.

Hope this helps.

I'd prefer January over August for the lower crowds but you may not get to swim too much. We visited last January and only got to hit TL once (in two weeks) and even then it was a little chilly. I'd still prefer a little chilly than dying in August in the heat.

Our family totally agrees and follows Bob's philosphy. In addition, we live in the Northeast, so it's nice to go down south in January!

Definitely January. It is ungodly hot and humid in Florida in August. It is also very crowded. The longer hours aren't worth it. In January, the weather will be much milder and the crowds will be non-existant. Even though the parks close earlier, you can get so much more done because its cool and uncrowded.

Thanks for the replies. We are going to go in January. Hopefully, we will get lucky and it will be warm enough to use the pool. (Unfortunately, I don't have one here and we look forward to relaxing by the pool on vacation). Thanks, again! :D

The last time we went in January - we lucked out and had beautiful weather that was totally swimmable!!! :) We enjoyed the pool quite a few times.

I can get downright cold also - but I can't take the heat - so it's January!
