when to get your dress steamed?

Hi Girls,

I have decided that I would rather vacuum pack my dress to fit into a tiny bag and take it with me as hand luggage that put it in th hold - crazy I know

My question is - when would be the best time to have the dress steamed? We arrive in Florida on May 16th and the wedding is not until May 27th so when do you recommend getting the dress steamed? The day after we arrive, the day before the wedding or the day of the wedding?

Either the day before or the day of...whatever works better for you. We did the morning of.

I agree with the day before or day of. Especially if you want to keep it hidden from your DF.

We arrive roughly a week before our wedding and I don't want DF to see the dress - this is going to be quite tricky because its only the two of us going to Orlando. So I'm hopeing that Carolyn Allens will store it & steam it at their shop and bring it the morning of the wedding along with DF's tux

99% of brides on here seem to have it steamed the morning of the wedding if you have the time to spare.

Word of warning about the vacuum pack bags - someone posted on here that they can damage bones in the dress so if you have any bones (or rather if your dress does lol) don't over suck it so to speak!

I sent all my dresses down to Carolyn Allens about 2 weeks before the wedding and they steamed them before they brought them the morning of the wedding. It worked out great!

yeah I did the same thing..shipped it to her 2 weeks before and they brought the dress the day of the wedding ..very easy. I had them ship it back home for me too!!

I'm having my dress steamed the morning of the wedding. I don't want DF to see it so I'm just going to keep it in the garment bag until CA comes the morning of.
