One reason suggested for avoiding a massage on the day of is because it "works" your muscles and can make you sore and definitely makes you more thirsty . . .more in need of water. You can request that they not use oils if you're worried about it staining your dress (if you are considering this) also they could just do a "chair massage" where it's just your neck and shoulders and you are dressed for this, might be nice for calming you down a bit.
Any kind of mud-wrapping or facials should ideally be done a week before they say because of breakouts. I chose to have mine the day before because I wanted my skin to be extra glowing. I did have a small breakout but it was easily covered by concealer.
I also choose to have my hair dyed about 2 days before the ceremony because I like the color when it is "fresh". I had been going to the same person for 12 months prior and had been doing the same type of "look" so I was confident in her ability to make me look great (which she did).
