When to cancel ADR?

I booked my ADRs a couple of weeks ago. We booked CP for 6pm but just realized that was the day which MVMCP was scheduled. We have not yet decided if we were going to go to that this year. We were there for MVMCP two years ago and didn't really feel it was worth the money. I booked another ADR for 5pm at CP with the thought that time would be better if we did MVMCP. So now we have 5PM and 6PM. I don't want to hold on to the double reservation too long just until we decide if we are going to MVMCP. Would the dining reservations cancel one automatically given that we have two times?

more than likely Disney will not cancel the ADR's but your probably going to get eaten alive on here for double booking. Its a pet peeve many have and some feel a major flaw in the system to allow double bookings. saw you were new, thought I'd warn you. and Welcome to the Dis!

If I were you i'd take the 5pm time and cxl the 6 pm regardless of what you decide. The party starts at 7 and if you eat at 6 you will probably still be in CP when the party starts. Thats even if you get in right at 6, ADR's aren't a guarantee and sometimes it can take another 10-15 min to get seated. When I am paying the big bucks to attend a hard ticket even with special shows, parades, etc I make sure I get every minute in the park and not sitting in a resturant that I could on any other given day of my trip.

Thanks, no I am not really new here! I have planned two previous trips using these boards. I was just wondering if they would cancel one of the reservations before I have a chance to decide which to take. I did mention that I wanted to cancel one soon so hopefully I will not get flamed. I just wanted a couple of days to review our plans and speak to my DH and kids about whether we wanted to do MVMCP again. I fully intend to cancel the second reservation this week and we are not traveling until mid-Nov.

I agree with the PP. Keep the 5:00 pm ressie and cancel the one for 6.

Thanks, the more I think about it that 5pm is probably the way to go. We are eating at the Plaza at noon and by 5 we will probably be ready for dinner. That timing would work best with MVMCP also

Isn't that the truth. My DH always says, "you know best. Just do what you think." I like to talk about it, dissect it, analyze it, and talk about it again b/f making my final decision. This board is so good for that! LOL
