When to call for Priority Seating?

We will be at WDW the first week of December and want to go to Chef Mickeys for the Character dinner one night. When can I call for the priority seating?

Also, what are your thoughts on the dinner compared to the breakfast. We are not big morning eaters, so I thought it would be a waste of money. This will be a non-park day for us, so I thought we would end the day with the meal and stay to see the fireworks.

Call for PS at 90 days out from the date you want. About breakfast and dinner...I think it's a toss up. You see good and not-so-good reviews about both meals. I think that mostly shows people's differing tastes. If you don't think you can be big breakfast eaters even for one day, then do it for dinner. I am sure no matter which you pick, you will enjoy.

I live in Calif. I naturally woke at 4am !!! to call Florida at 7am their time. I totally messed up and cannot call for my particular day for another 2 days. What a hoot! I ended up just going to work at 6am and working overtime. ha ha ha
