when to buy a resale

we have been wanting to buy a resale at okw, simply because
that is the resort that best suits our needs. we usually vacation
the first week in december or the first week in may. I am not
sure how the use year runs. if we buy a march time share does
that mean that we would have to wait until march every year to
try to book a may vacation? we can book 11 months out, however if we don't gain points until march can we still book 11
months prior to our planned vacation time or 11 months from your
use year? has anyone ever purchased a resale from the timeshare store? you help would be greatly appreciated

Your use year month dimply dictates the month each year that you receive your allotment of points. As long as you have the points available for the arrival date of your reservation, you can make reservations 11 months in advance.

A March use year should work fine for you.

We purchased our resale via the timeshare store, and they were great. No problems at all and the transaction went very smoothly.

Since you vacation at the same times each year, use year is important to you. March would work OK, April would be better. December would be the best.

If you ever need to cancel your reservation for any reason you will need to either (1) use the points in the current use year or (2) bank them into the next use year. The ability to bank points depends on when you cancel your reservation and how many points you already have banked into the next use year. You may be forced to use or lose the points. For instance, if you have a March use year you and you cancel your December trip you have until the end of December to bank up to 25% of your points into the next use year. If you have already banked 25% or more, you will need to use those points before March 1.

If you have a December use year you can bank 100% by May 31, 50% by Aug 31 and 25% by Sept 30. So, if you have to cancel either your December trip or your May trip you can still bank all of those points into the next use year.
