We are staying 3 nights at WDW at the end of our Disney cruise in Jan 2018. I always thought you should book as early as possible to ensure you get the room you want however I am reading allot about the Stay, Play, Dine historically comes out for this time of year. So when should you book? Over summer when the rooms first open? Or wait til Fall for the discounts? If you book over summer and they run a sale can you get the new price? I am thinking of going with a moderate level resort. TYIA!!

Booking prior to discounts being released gives you a bigger selection of resort, room type and dates.

When discounts are released, there are a limited number of rooms allocated for discount rates. If you are already booked, that resort, room type and dates must be available for the discount to be applied or you need to be flexible and be willing to change to what is available.

If you book room only and a package is offered, you would have to cancel and re-book.

The pp is correct. If you book now and a discount comes out, you can apply it to your existing reservation as long as what you have booked is available under that discount. If there is a particular resort/room type you want and you will stay regardless of discounts, I'd book when the rates come out to make sure you get what you want. If you are flexible with your resort, I'd probably wait to see what (if any) discounts come out for your dates and book at that time. Good luck and happy planning :wizard:.

Thanks! I don't really have a big preference on our resort. The kids and I usually do POP because we really enjoy the vibe around the pool but DH is really picky, it's his first time, and I know he would not be happy there. So I'm exploring the mod & deluxe categories. Maybe I'll wait because if any room discounts come out it may be incentive to bump up a room. It just feels so weird because usually everything Disney is WAY in advance. We've had our cruise booked since Feb lol!

You're welcome! Since you don't have a preferred resort, I think it's a good idea to wait and see what discounts come out before booking. Good luck and enjoy the planning :goodvibes.
