I'm planning a visit to DLR next September before flying over to WDW, as I'm from the UK I've no idea when is best to book flights for the best fares, I need a one way flight (non stop) from LAX-MCO, at the moment the cost is $202 is this a good price or should I hold off till closer to the time?

I booked our flights out of LGB to MCO for February(Presidents day and Valentines day weekend)for $136 each...taxes included. I checked Google flights everyday in the morning, afternoon and before bed.
This flight had one quick stop in PHX...but I am happy to switch that with flying out of LAX.

That is a good price for sure.

We always book our flights as early as possible as they most always go up the closer to the departure date.

Have fun!

I booked November 22 for our trip on the 13th of February. Just under the 3 month mark. Good luck... hope you find a great deal!

I'm finding fares on Virgin for as low as $129 nonstop from LAX to MCO for next September.

I would at least wait until the booking window opens for Southwest, which is currently only up through August 5th. I'd expect to pay $150-$180 but have seen the fares higher, for sure. With SW you'd get 2 free checked pieces of luggage. If the price goes down on SW you do get the balance back as an airfare credit for up to 1 year. Maybe not such an incentive if you probably won't be here to use it, but as part of a longer trip the free checked bags can be a savings. SW also flies SNA to MCO, which might be a little bit less of a hassle than getting to LAX.
