We're headed to Disney to celebrate my graduation from May 7-17. It's our first trip to WDW and our first family vacation ever - not to mention my kids first time flying... and my first time booking our own flights!

Right now rates with SWA are about $90 each way from a nearby airport (I live in nowheresville).

In general, I'm thinking the closer we get to departure date the higher rates will go? So should I go ahead and book or hold out for a cheaper DING or special? Any ideas?

Thanks guys! :)

When I was planning May 6-13 trip for my DH and myself, I was told to book either 6 months or 2 weeks within the date of departure. (Can't remember where I found that info ). We are flying from Pittsburgh and I found AirTran had the best prices for us -- $99 each for one way nonstop and I booked that at the 6 month period. I keep looking and I'm not finding anything better. Last year I did one two weeks before, it was a last minute surprise trip and found really good rates then too. Have a great trip. Good luck with school too! :wave2:

I booked our flights for 4/29-5/6 with SW last week - we needed weekend flights and there wasn't much left for flights so I went ahead and booked. I'm glad I did because within a few days the departure flights were completely booked and a few days after that the return flight we chose was booked. If you have to travel on the weekend I wouldn't hold out much longer IMO.

Congratulations on your soon-to-be graduation and have fun during your first trip to Disney!! :welcome:

Thanks for the input! We're leaving on a Sunday and returning on a Wednesday!

you just missed the SW ding 2 days ago. $39 each way. PHL to MCO.

mannasn,
I start looking at about 5 months. We use AIRTRAN all the time now from PHL . I pass on the Ding for May 4/12 till I know more about SW cattle call.

Sign up for the Southwest Ding airfares. It was the best thing I did. My family is going down the 17-23 in May and I was able to get roundtrip airfare for the four of us for $375 total. I saved over $450 from what the other best fare was at the time. :cool1: Good Luck and congrats on the graduation!! :) :)

Wish I could see a rate like that come up on my DING! I'm flying out from Jackson, MS. :(
