When to arrive @ Sanford?

I know ME takes you to the airport 3 hours early for MCO, but how early should you arrive at Sanford with a rental car?

The one time we flew out of Sanford a couple of years ago we had our rental car dropped off, checked in and through security in about 45 minutes. It's a very small airport, one of the advantages over MCO. I would still recommend getting there 1-1/2 hours early though.

I agree witht the previous poster. We arrived 2 1/2 hours early a couple of weeks ago because that is what the web site suggested. We flew out on 12/23 and even flying on one of the busiest days of the year, we could have gotten there 1-1 1/2 hours before and been fine. I even got pulled to have the special high screening (yeah for me). Even with that and the regular checking in and luggage check in and arriving to our gate we still had to sit for an hour.
