When TIW is not valid--where do you go?

Obviously there are the quick service windows with lots of burgers and dole whips and goodies but--as my husband and I will be there Dec 30 and Jan 3 with a TIW, we will have 2 days where the discount isn't in effect. Are there any good restaurants that don't take the TIW so--might as well take advantage of those when the discount doesn't feel like it's going to waste? What do other TIW holders do? Do you stick with fast food or are there gems that don't take the TIW you frequent:scratchin?

We do La hacienda in Epcot. They give an AP or DVC discount instead. It's only 10% but better than nothing! We also do Yak n Yeti.

We'll have AP for the first time this year and we're DVC so--that's a great suggestion. Guess I should look at my perks list. Not as great without the alcohol but--every little bit helps!

Yes it does! La Hacienda is one of our favorites so we don't care we will go either way but a little but saved here is more to spend elsewhere. Lets be honest it's not coming home again lol.

You mention that you are DVC. I don't know where you are staying, but the Swan and Dolphin both give 20% off at their restaurants. Some others do as well, some only 10%, but be sure to check the "perks" before you leave home on the member website. DTD has some as well, like20% lunch discount at Wolfgang Pucks at Westside (one of my favorites!). 10% off over at the Marketplace Puck's, 10% at Earl of Sandwich, etc.

We're staying at OKW. Unfortunately, all the DVC discounts don't work on holidays, either.

Does the AP have block out dates? We are getting an AP in January. Is it food for the entire group at the table or pass holders only ?

AP dining discount is not valid on January 1 either. Also most of the restaurants at Epcot that give an AP discount are for lunch only so you might want to check the AP dining benefits on Disney's pass holder website.

Here are some places/events that don't accept the TiW so maybe it's time to book one of these:

Yak & Yeti TS, Rainforest, and T-Rex

Fantasmic! and Candlelight dining packages

Dine with an Imagineer

The Chef's table at various signature restaurants

Victoria Room and Chef's table at V&A

In the past there have been special NYE events

I'm the opposite of the previous poster. We don't frequent any restaurant that doesn't accept TIW on a regular basis. We could get an AP discount, but still don't go to those. Not accepting it is like saying they don't need the TIW members, so we spend our money elsewhere. This probably makes my feelings on the matter sound a lot more serious & harsh than they really are. ;) It's definitely not something I get upset over. I just like to support restaurants that give us a break the large majority of the year. So to answer your question, the fact that TIW is blacked out doesn't change where we book. Two years ago over NYE & NYD, we ate at Le Bistro (now Monsieur Paul) & Hollywood Brown Derby for dinner. One lunch was at Tony's, but I don't remember where we had lunch the other day.

I was under the impression that some places aren't allowed to accept tiw by Disney and the agreement they have with Disney. For example, La Hacienda accepted tiw when they first opened but they weren't supposed to and got in trouble so they can no longer accept it.
I don't know the logistics of it but I'm not sure it's the restaurants fault or disney?!?! Maybe some one does know and can tell us??

I've never heard that, but it may be true. It seems odd that WDW would allow SAI & Tokyo Dining to accept TIW, but not TI & LH though.

The days TIW are not accepted are special dinner days. We choose where we want to go and just not use the TIW. The only thing we avoid those days are the fix menus. We find that there's just too much food and it's better to go ala carte.
