We all have unexpected things pop up, and that's when I love our DVC the most. This summer our well collapsed, so we had to find $7000 for a new well. Sorry kids, you aren't going to college, how do you feel about learning how to dig wells? :rotfl:

Anyway, I'm so glad we bought DVC way back when before we had kids, and wells. When we bought it, I told DH we'd always have a way to vacation no matter what. We're close enough to drive to Orlando or Hilton Head, we eat some meals in our room, so vacation is not terribly expensive. I was cleaning the gutters today (thanks Ernesto!) and the whole time I was daydreaming about our November trip. DVC has given us fabulous vacations and memories!! Does anyone else especially love their DVC when daily life is going downhill?

I agree with you. My husband was unemployed (and he makes much more than I do, so he is the bread winner) for over a year. Yet we were still able to take our vacations because they were already paid for. We cut corners while at WDW (eating out sort of things) but we had a great time anyway.

Yup, it is nice. Glad we own! :thumbsup2

Actually, I think you were DisDayDreaming! Can't tell how many times DW and I realized the vacations we would not have taken had we not bought into DVC. We were young and smart! ;)

My DH was also unemployed for 9 months. Before it happened, we had planned two DVC vacations during that time and were able to take them both because both were paid for. I cannot tell you how wonderful it was. It was like a mental health break. Out of all the reasons we bought into DVC we certainly didn't expect that side benefit, but now we were grateful that we were able to buy in when we did.

I agree. Its nice to know that my DVC vacations can be as frugal or expensive as I can afford at that particular time!

I'm so glad to hear from others who feel the same way. We bought in when we were in our 20's. When you're facing something like a layoff or other unexpected financial crisis DVC is always there. THis year we've had this stupid well, plus our baby is experiencing some delays due to a muscle (not severe) condition. I can't tell you how forward we're looking to getting away this fall.

Good thoughts, guys, thanks!

No, thank YOU for starting this thread  .

We love our DVC it gets me through the year when our count down begins. :thumbsup2
