Just off the phone and the 25% member discount isnt available she said to keep trying even though I have booked we go next july so when do you recommend I try and how often

25% discount for DVC Members making a cash reservation at a DVC resort
( must book a dvc room; it is not available for regular hotel room inventory if the DVC resort is part of a resort like BC,BW,WL,AK ) - sometimes this discount is available and other times not. The Member must make this reservation through Member Services not CRO.

They only release rooms for the discount when they determine they will not likely be reserved for points. It's too early to make that determination for July. Probably not until less than 7 months, especially for BCV.

Hi, Same boat here I am WAITING for a discount on a 1 bedroom at BCV (Feb.20+21.) The discount was available for a STUDIO on these dates and the CM told me to keep calling and trying for the discount on the 1 bedroom. I REALLY wish this is something that could be done AUTOMATICALLY(appling the discount if it becomes available) by MS?? Just seems like alot of calling?? Joan

Hi, I have been calling MS twice a week(Tuesday and Thursday or Friday). I will call more often as the date gets closer. And I will check thru Disney reservations IF any discounts (AP or general) become available. I HATE paying the full price BUT I have the 22nd booked with points so unless I change all 3 nights I do not have a choice. Joan

Aren't you trying for a GV? If so, I hate to rain on your parade, but that's one of those room types that is NOT likely to be released at a discount because it's not likely to go unreserved. Same goes for BCV in the summer or at Food & Wine time. If they likely can get it reserved on points or sold at full rack rate, they are unlikely to discount. I would have a Plan B just in case.

unsure if you are meaning me or debbie, mikesmom . if its me than unfortunately we have no option to go for the GV due to our sons medical needs, equipment so no plan B for us. I had read on here though that the grand villas at SSR were hard to rent because of the number of points, is that not the case ? and therefore no point in trying again to see if the discount comes up

I would never say never, but GVs at 7 months are difficult for points, let alone a cash discount. I would just not count on it and have a Plan B.

We stayed on points at BCV in a 2br. last July for 6 nights and changed the points night on Fri. to cash night. We were able to book this at the 5 month window for points. What I did was book using points then decided I didn't want to give up 75 points so I went back a couple months later and was able to get that night in cash. It is easier to get weekend cash nights if you try for weekends because people aren't willing to part with those high pt. weekends and so they don't stay there. Hope this helps.

How can you determine what the DVC room would cost if paying cash? Do you just go to the disney reservation system and check from there or is there a listing somewhere?

Keep calling & trying. I was able to get s studio at VWL at 5 months on cash on the first call...but had to call 3 times to snag a Value Studio at AKV for this summer...got it at 9 months out. The cash inventory changes all the time. You just have to keep calling if there's something in particular that you really want.

Keep trying. For our July vacation this year, the discount was not able when we originally made the ressie. But, I kept checking about once a week and lo and behold, it finally came through about 3 months prior to our vacation.
