When staying at a disney resort how many of you tip your housekeepers

We tip daily, $1 per person. Daily because you may get different mouse keepers, and if you just tip at the end of your stay, it may go to a different person just coming on shift and not the person who has been cleaning your room all week.

There are different trains of thought on tipping. I've heard from some that it's not a tipped position, and the tip is actually included in their wages.

This may be, but I still like to leave a little something extra.

I leave 5 dollars in an envelope marked mousekeeper everyday. That way the person cleaning that day gets the tip.

$1 per person per day if they are doing a full cleaning.. our next stay is at the Villas, so less housekeeping and smaller tip.

I have never tipped the housekeeping at Disney or at any other hotel for that matter. I have never heard of tipping for this service except on these boards. They are paid to clean the rooms. It is not like they are waiters where they are paid a smaller hourly and the rest is dependent on tips.

Sorry if this is a little harsh but as expensive as Disney is, I can't afford to tip everyone just to do the job they are already getting paid to do.

I do agree with you here.....I also hate that with our family of 6 we are automatically charged tips when we go eat as well! There are a few hotels that we have left tips but never have at Disney(except the time my youngest made a large mess and we needed a vacuum)

I tip $1 per person a day at Disney or any other resort I stay at if I am there for any length of time. One night stay, I usually don't tip.

We also tip $1 per person per day. Our Mousekeeper would leave cute animals made out of wash cloths every day.

For the two of us, I leave about $4 - $5 per day. From what I understand, there may be different Mousekeepers daily, so we leave it each day of our stay.

I tip $1 to $2 per person per day. I already have the envelopes made up and stuffed for our trip in December!!! Only two are going this trip, so I have $4 in each envelope.

Yes we tip provided the room is cleaned properly. We tip$1 per person plus $1 so for our family of 5 we leave $6. Lastly we have always tipped at each hotel/motel we have stayed, again provided the room is clean. I always thought this was customary.

Same as PP's, we leave $1/day for each of us (so $4) and then we might throw in some extra if we've gotten some cool towel animals. :goodvibes

We travel all over the world and didn't know it was necessary to tip housekeeping.

I was a housekeeper the summer before my senior year of high school and the summer after, and I had never heard of tipping the housekeeper. There was the occassional room where it appeared that the guest had emptied the change out of their pocket and left it on the table, but that was about it. And that change went in to the supply cart for drinks for the housekeepers to buy while working.

I hate tipping - we tip very well, but I resent that employers can't pay their employees a decent wage and expect the customers to fill in the blanks and we are required to do it (although if we get bad service anywhere - which is so rare it's practically nonexistent - we don't tip. I think this happened once in 10 years). This rant, however, is for waiters and waitresses. Housekeeping is a different ballgame, since they do earn a fair wage and aren't undercut with the expectation that they make up the difference with tips.

That being said, we did tip during our stay in AK:KV. We never tip housekeepers at other hotels and usually don't at Disney. But on our first family trip, the mousekeepers went above and beyond every night - always a spotless room, towel animals, kids bedtime stuff arranged in a cute way (sometimes having a party on the couch, sometimes tied up in the curtains). My kids adored it and loved seeing what trouble their animals had gotten into while we were gone. We left $20 on that trip, with a note that thanked them for their excellent service and a job well done.

In general, hotel housekeeping *is* a tipped position, at least in the US. However, for whatever reason, it isn't at WDW. (It doesn't appear on the list of tipped cast members on the WDW FAQ lists that are given to resort guests.)

Which is not to say that tips aren't appreciated - I'm sure they are. But they're voluntary.

We do $5 per day (in the AM). We place an envelope on the bathroom counter with $5 cash inside. On the envelope we write:
To: Mousekeeping
Merci
Gracias
Thank You

We only know Spanish, French and English....sorry if the person who keeps our room nice and tidy does not know one of those languages .

We didn't know until traveling to Disney that is was a common thing. That said every trip we tip $5 morning $2 evening turn down then $10 morning and $5 evening our last day. We even tip now in Iowa and Illinois hotels when traveling for dd's traveling sports teams.:flower3:
