When should we go? Please help!

Hi everyone! So, I have a bit of a dilemma. My boyfriend and I will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary on July 1 and we are trying to decide between going to DLR or San Francisco. We're not sure where to go for a couple of reasons. First, we know that DCA is undergoing changes, as well as the DLH, where we would be staying if we decided to spend our anniversary at the DLR. We also know that things aren't expected to be finished in either area until 2012. We wanted to see Cars Land, but on the other hand, we're worried about the crowds being really bad if we wait until 2012 to go since everyone will want to see Cars Land. However, if we don't go to DLR in 2012, we probably won't go until the following year, which is a long time to wait since our last visit was in 2009. We also would have liked to have the DLH finished so we could stay in the Magic Tower, where we stayed on our first visit to DLR together. I'm not sure when that tower will be finished. Basically, we're not sure if we should go this year because of all of the changes and construction going on. I do want to add though, that a major plus to going this year is that his parents are much more likely to pay for the trip. We're going to get our own place next year and he will most likely have to pay for the trip if we go in 2012.

So...we really don't know when to go! We were hoping that you DIS experts might know things that we don't about the remodeling or could maybe point things out that we overlooked to help us decide. Any help/suggestions at all would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

By July they should have finished:

- Little Mermaid ride in DCA
- Splash Mountain and Critter Country refurb
- Main Street refurb
- Star Tours II upgrade
- Construction around Goofy's Sky School and food court in DCA

Basically, everything should be up and running except Cars Land, which won't be done until mid 2012. But the Cars Land construction is in the old Timon lot, in a separate area from all the other attractions. So other than missing Cars Land, everything should be running normally.

I vote for going this year.

ETA - Oh yeah, DLH will still be undergoing refurbishment, too. I'll let someone else tell you about that, since I don't know much. But I know that lots of folks have enjoyed staying there during refurb.

Wow, I wasn't even aware of a lot of the changes that you mentioned being underway! Aside from Cars Land and the DLH, I only knew about Star Tours and Goofy's Sky School. Thanks for the info!
