My DH is guilty of saying crown instead of crayon, perscription instead of of subscribtion - like when someone gets a magazine. There are probably alot more but I can't think right now!!
Okay, but if you say you are having a garage sale then "sale" is being used as a noun and so I can't see anything wrong with that. "I'm a having a garage sell tomorrow"... hmm that doesn't sound right... "sell" is a verb as far as my use of the word goes.
One that I can not stand and I see all the time is the misuse of "anymore." Anymore means "any longer," as in "I never see my friend anymore." It does not mean "nowadays," as in "Anymore nobody comes to see me." That doesn't even make sense, people!!

I actually used a poor example. I don't have a problem with someone having a garage sale. I have a problem with someone "saling" their books at a garage sale. My issue is with sale used as a verb
My neighbor (the same one who says broadwalk instead of boardwalk and yorkshine instead of yorkshire) had us rolling on the floor the other night. He said "you have to make your investments by the end of the physical year" instead of fiscal. He really is a character.
