When is tiering going away?

Didn't someone crunch some numbers to determine the amount of headliners Epcot and DHS would need in order for tiers to go away?

Anyone who expects the tiers to go away anytime soon will IMO be disappointed. They cannot get rid of them if they want decent FP+ to be available to all their guests. FP+ doesn't create ride capacity, it just distributes what was already there. Since Disney reportedly increased FP+ usage to 90% of guests, they need tiers to allow all those people to get something.

They may not be able to get rid of tiering but they should be able to accommodate more flexibility for folks paying to park hop.

If either of your kids don't make the height requirement for some of the bigger rides, you can use rider switch and basically double your FP+ selections and get around tiering. That is what we are doing on our trip and many others have done as well.

If I don't have one small enough for rider swap, should I have another? ;)

Wow, the expense some folk are willing to go to for that extra set of FP's :lmao:

Yeah, that might be a little drastic. I might have to go back to my "rent a baby" plan instead. :teeth:

Someone admitted in a recent thread that FP+ was a factor in their decision to buy a smartphone, but this shows TRUE determination!

If it IS going away, nobody knows WHEN.

And, with the Dwarf's Mine Train opening soon, looks like MK might even have to ADD it.

I think this would be true if they had 2 new headliners opening, but with just the one new ride 7DMR is going to sell out just as fast with tiering as without.

But I don't think they'll get rid of tiering in the other parks -- IMO they can't because so many people would only select the most popular rides.

I don't mind the three FP+ limit for advance booking, but once you are in the park, you should have the option to schedule another FP so long as it does not conflict with an existing one.

Say I schedule a Soaring FP+ for noon. If I still decide I want to do RD, I should be able to schedule a TT FP as soon as I enter the park as long as it is not at noon. From there, the old rules could apply. I cannot schedule another one until the window opens up or two hours have passed. This would benefit those who like to sleep in and those who like to get there early.

The only other change I would make is to allow 4 or 5 scheduled FP+ in advance at MK. There are so many more rides to spread out the masses, and if I can ride more rides quicker then my time is freed up to spend my money elsewhere in the park.

Well, the down side to this is... If you schedule Soarin at noon, and want to do a FP for TT, TT could be booked solid for FP's from others that used the advanced booking. So you wouldn't get a FP for it because in theory, even on the day of, there are no FPs for that morning.

I've stated on other threads like this one, that hopefully the tiering and FP limits are something that are just in a testing phase and will be adjusted. Others have pointed out that the 3 FP limit came about because when Disney crunched the numbers it showed that guests used 2.8 FP's per day on the average. Hence, 3 FP bookings allowed.

As for the park hopping. You can park hop with FP+, but you're gonna have to plan out what you're doing. If you get to the MK at RD and hit rides through the standby lines, you can hop to EPCOT later and use your FP+'s for the night, or any combination, you just can't use them cross-park. Which hopefully that could be something that changes as well.

The only thing that Disney seemed to overlook when crunching their numbers, was that they didn't see the people who would get a FP for everything they could vs the people who just casually stroll around, shop, go through standby lines on low wait rides. Whereas FP's were not important to some, now gives them something they "didn't want" and now it's taking something away from others that have the "need".

You can borrow mine for the low cost of 2 plane tickets to Orlando, accommodations and park tickets. You can even use my tier 1 FP! ;)

Well, for now I'm just going back to DLR. I'll keep your offer in mind for 2015 though! By then one of my college students will have graduated, so I might be able to afford more options! :rotfl:

A great many WDW trips include 2-3 days visiting MK.

If the MK Top Tier included 7DMT and say, Splash Mtn., and Space Mtn. many guests
would not choose 7DMT on their second and/or third MK day.
That's how it could spread out the 7DMT FP+ to multiple guests.

Uh oh, by then he might be too tall! Does this mean I need to have more rider swap babies too? The things we do for FP...

I agree. Especially when you put A/E into the mix. I'd maybe even put ETWB in that mix because it's so low capacity and seems to be the one I keep hearing about running out first.

I know we typically do MK 3 or 4 days. Without tiering, I would probably choose 7DMT every day. With tiering we'd probably feel we need to mix it up a bit.

Could we soon see threads telling people ways to get their too tall kids to make it under the bar on headliner rides? Slouch kiddo, slouch! Go later in the day when spines are compressed! Wear only the flattest of flip-flops!

Don't forget to shave their heads.....;)

And Peter Pan. That could be MK's Maelstrom.

I wouldn't be surprised to see that on in there either. But Disney has the stats on which rides have the highest demand. And if they tier, they'll use that to make the groupings.

I just have a hunch that when they "give" something back on FP, they're going to take something else away. popcorn::
