When is Jersey week and does it really increase crowds?

We're planning a trip for the fall or winter and want to avoid the crowds. Trying to avoid Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanks for your input!

Jersey Week families will start checking in on Friday October 31st and Jersey Week goes all the way until Sunday November 9th.
Flights fron the NE are quite full right now, but the resort crowds will be moderate along with the parks.
We are travelling Nov 2nd until Nov 7th...from EWR and our flights are full.

I wish our school district had a week off in the Fall. We get 2 days [Thu & Fri] for Fall Break at the end of October. It used to be 3 days [Wed-Fri]. Maybe we should move to NJ ..... ;)

It's not a full week we get off from school, usually just the Thursday and Friday. People take the whole week off to go because they're only taking their kids out of school for three days. This year Election Day is included in there as well so I would assume a lot more people than normal will take off. Us, we're going the first week of December. I know how many people go then and don't want to be one of them!!

Most districts don't have the whole week off. My DD is a teacher they only have off Thurdsay and Friday but her husband also a teacher is off the whole week. We've been a couple times Jersey week and it's no where near Easter crowds. I've never been in summer but my neighbor says Jersey week is nothing compared to crowds in July.

"Jersey Week" definitely is crowded on the Friday-Saturday-Sunday, which will be November 8th, 9th and 10th. Before that in the week, it's not too bad, but that particular week can be busier than weeks surrounding it.

I always believed the increased crowds is due more for the long weekend of Veteran's Day, which many kids have off, making it an ideal time for many families to plan a vacation with little school missed. It isn't just Jerseyans filling the parks. Also there are many events at Disney that weekend, like the Super Soap and Food and Wine.

So that particular week is busier, but not Easter or Spring Break or anything!

We were there one year for Jersey week and it was definitely more crowded. We live in New England and many schools in our area also have a long weekend. Our school usually has Friday and the following Monday.

I am in Central Jersey and we do have the whole week off. I am not going them, but I know LOTS of people who are.

I will be there Jersey week, and I live in Alabama. However my kids have that week off for fall break so thats why we are going that week.

No guarantee to have the week off in NJ. It differs from school district to school district. Research your new hometown carefully. ;)

The school district my family is in (I teach, kids attend) only have the Thursday and Friday off.

Thank you all very much for your help. We're looking forward to our trip. I have a 2 & 4 year old, so I'm fortunate now that I don't have to worry about their school schedule. My time is coming, though. That's why we're trying to squeeze WDW in now.

I just LOVE this site.

We were there last year for Jersey week and did not find the crowds bad. Had hoped to do the same this year, but as someone else pointed out the flights out of EWR are booked and/or extraordinarily expensive.

I live in NJ and although I don't have an answer for you about the park crowds that week..I will tell you as other posters have that all the schools are closed for the teachers' convention in NJ. Where I live many, many families travel that week. My DH and I planned a WDW trip for this fall and being Jersey folks with grown kids I knew to avoid WDW that week The flights were booked up anyway.:)

We were at WDW during Jersey Week just after 9/11.
There were no lines anywhere.
I remember riding Splash Mtn, at the end when we weregoing to get out of the flume, the CM simply asked "Do you want to ride again?"
