When is it real for you?

My dream has always been to take my kids to Disney World. As a single Mom, yes, it has taken forever! They are now 16 & 20 and we are going!! I have never put so much effort & planning/homework into a vacation! :surfweb: but the money is in the bank waiting for me to attempt to rent DVC points (yes, I've even learned the acronyms), watching for the best prices I can get for flights, found the least expensive route for tixs & figured out which Meal plan we are getting. What is making it real is that it seems every where we go now we see something Disney & my daughter & I look at each other EVERY TIME & say, "It's a sign!" April 2013 can't come quick enough! :cool1:

for me it is real right now and the wait is driving me crazy: first trip in 3 years.

its a semi real feeling now, once i get my mickey mail it will feel more real, but the real feeling comes when i go through the gate at the MK and i'm in the park. :woohoo:

We leave in five days....and it still doesn't feel real. :rotfl2: I'm listening to Disney music almost nonstop. My mom and I even called Disney the other day to rearraged our dining, set up our tours (Keys to the Kingdom and Undiscovered Future World) and to set up my archery lesson (Which I'm taking ON my 21st birthday before dinner at Teppan Edo :woohoo: ) but it still doesn't feel real...maybe it'll start feeling real soon.

When I hit the sign at MCO for the Disney Magical Express...then it's real and the tears start a-flowin'! That's when the magic begins for me. :)

LOL I have 'stages' of starting my vacation...

1st is once we are thru security at home airport
2nd taking off from home airport..
3rd landing
4th DME to resort
5th check in complete and I have my room key...

And it gets progressively more exciting every step.. But I dont truly feel I am on vacation til I have my room key. After step 3 I am much more excited though :)

Real for me comes in bits and pieces

1st when I book, 11 months out

2nd when it's paid off

3rd making ADR's

4th a month to go!

And many more

The first real stage for me is getting out of work. The instant I get in my car to head home I feel my vacation has started. The next big step is getting through security and to my gate. Once I know I haven't missed my flight I become totally relaxed.

We go on a lot of vacations so the packing, planning, travelling, airport, flight, getting our luggage etc. is very exciting, but I honestly don't get that 'it's real for me' feeling until the very second I spot that Walt Disney sign and we drive under it. Only then do I feel like we have entered the 'WORLD" and all my problems are behind me!

It feels real to me the minute I realize that we are going to be able to go to Disney again. From that point on it just gets more real but right now I am over a year away and yet I know I am going, and I know when I am going and now I just get to plan and plan and count down to the day I leave. :cool1:

It always feels real when I smell that Disney smell. In two days I will walk through the gates with my husband who has never been. I think it will feel more real than it ever has and I can't wait to see his face light up!

I go thru different stages if it becoming real:

1) excited when I book
2) relieved when paid off cause we really are going! Lol
3) the day we drive down and check into our DTD hotel and traditionally shop DTD and eat at Trex
Then that night I can barely sleep
4) when we check into our Wdw resort and head to the park!
5) riding POTC first I always say we're here baby we made it! Lol

Here are my stages of realness :) : When we arrive at the airport and board the plane, when we board the ME, when we check in to our hotel and our first park visit.

I love going with someone who has never been, so much fun to see their face when the castle comes into view that very first time. Went in 2011 and it was my DS first visit and even though my DD had been before she was only 16 months old so it was like her first time too. We so great to see their faces and the excitement they had for everything they were experiencing. :)

Hope you have a wonderful time!!! :yay:
