When is it cold enough for pants and long sleeves?

When is it cold enough for pants and long sleeves?

Well, for me, anything under 74 means long pants for sure. But I don't break out the capris/shorts unless it's at least 90.

I pretty much wear long pants all year. Long sleeves only in the fall/winter.

Kentucky here. Anything below 80 is long pants, below 70 is long sleeves. It's bounced between the 80s and 40s here the last few weeks. Currently pouring rain and 54 so jeans, shirt and sweater for me.

I wear my winter clothing all year. I basically just add a flannel overshirt if I am going outside. Shorts and t-shirt pretty much all year.

Then again, it's dark when I leave for work and dark when I come home so it's not like I can ever do anything out in the yard. Errands are done on the way home from work where it's hot. I dress for the hours I'll be where I am, not for the less than a minute I am out in the cold.

I don't understand the winter mentality of dressing up like you are heading to Antarctica for the 15 seconds it takes to get to your car, 15 seconds to get from the car to your building destination and then staying dressed like that in a warm building for hours and hours.

Oh, and here's our weather. People all over here are always confused how to dress...

Anything below 55 I'm in pants and long sleeves which for us here south of Lansing started about 2 weeks ago. :cold:

never long sleeves......a sweatshirt if going out.
long pants and socks the last couple of days, but out temps are going back up again, so it will be back to capris.
Next week will get a couple of more days in the 90s :(

Usually long pants come in Nov. This has been a hotter than usual year.

Should I admit that I swam laps in an outdoor pool while it was snowing this weekend? The pool was heated to 80 degrees so it was perfect for lap swimming. The air temp was 9 degrees so the walk out to the pool was cold and it was a bit tough to get out of the pool.

We actually had our first snow in September this year, which was a few weeks early. There were several days after that which were in the upper 80s low 90s. Hey, it's Colorado. I switched back to shorts when the snow melted. Today will be in the 50s so it will be shorts if the wind isn't blowing.

I went out for a walk this morning, and for the first time this season I wore both pants and a long sleeve top (usually its shorts and T-shirt or a long sleeve top). It seems like it always gets cold enough here right around Halloween. It was 45 degrees this morning! Have you already pulled out your winter wardrobe?
It's a chilly 43 degrees here this morning as I type this- Northern CA. I just pulled out all my sweaters to hang up in the closet yesterday. I must have at least 30, lol. This is the time to layer because it's cold now but will get warmer this afternoon, expecting a high of 79 here today.

If you ask my teenage son, never. But to be fair, we live in Georgia, so he can get by with it most of the time. He will throw on a sweatshirt with his shorts sometimes.

I only own a couple long sleeve shirts, and those tend to be worn in January or February. I prefer long pants to shorts, so wear those most of the year. I wear short sleeve shirts almost all the time, and just add a hoodie if it’s cool. Hoodie goes on at about 55 if windy, and 45 if not windy. I tend to run on the warm side. I never turn my AC off in the winter. It just doesn’t run as often.

My SIL shows up in cargo shorts year round (Colorado here) I gave up big sweaters when we moved here from Chicago - doesn't get below freezing where we live.

Well, it is a high of 31 here today, and most of us are in shorts and t-shirts. I am not the most of us - I lost some weight the last few months and I freeze on a hot summer day now.

Well, DH was wearing shorts on Monday then wore pants on Tuesday when it snowed 3 inches. (It has never snowed in October in the >20 years we've lived here.)

I go to long sleeves and long pants in the mid-low 70's. If temps plunge into the 60's, that's sweater/jacket time. Anything below 60 is ski parka or just stay indoors. No good reason to go outside in those conditions.

Montana Here
Above 70 definently Capris and short sleaved tops-I never wear shorts and tank tops are only worn under tops that are too low cut in the front for modesty reasons. Though I will wear them around the inside of my house when it is above 95.
Above 60 No Jacket needed unless we are dealing with a wind that is more than 10 MPH. Still when you leave the house unless you can gurantee that you will always be less than 5 minutes from you,r vehicle to a building pack a jacket along with you.
Between 45 and 50 short sleaves still but always a jacket when going outside. This is until the tempatures are in the 60s
Starting between 40 and 45 it is time for the long sleaves though not getting into the heavier sweatshirts and sweaters quite yet. Plan on having a jacket for outside.
At 30-40 degrees time to long sleaves with starting to move into sweatshirts. Dig out a slightly heavier jacket and the gloves because they are going to be needed.
30 down to -15/-20 range. You will want to start using a winter coat but make sure it is not that heavy especially if your vehicle's heating system really cooks when you have to use the defroster setting otherwise you will start roasting and will be the person attempting to peel off clothing items at stop lights because your sweating like a stuck pig. A lightweight hat and gloves are essential at this time.
-20 to -40 time for the sweatshirts or heavy sweaters under, the heaviest coat you own. If you have a down one (I don't and never will due to being allergic to down) that one comes out. Might consider wollen underwear if you own any especially if you have to be outside. Heavier hat, gloves, and add a scarf.
Below -40 you start questioning is it really necessary to go out. Can I send somebody else to the store. Isn't there at least one grocery store open for items I can't substiute something else that I have in the cupboards open when my DH gets off work after midnight.

In the 50s here (and rain). Long pants and short sleeve top. I wear short sleeves most of the time and have a long sleeve shirt/sweatshirt with me. I put it on and off all day. I will wear long sleeves here and there in the winter if I am not doing/moving around much. Forget about sweaters or turtle neck shirts. I love them, but they are a no no for me.
