I am planning a trip for Oct. 06. Does anyone know if that has been traditional a time for a lot of hurricanes? Would you plan a trip for that time? :scratchin

Thanks, Melissa

Hurrican season is from June 1st to November 30th. We are going in August :bday: and in October for Halloween :maleficen and a :bday: cruise,we bought trip insurance. I think I'v only heard of 1 hurrican in Oct. I think when you go to Disney in that time frame you just take your chances, buy trip insurance and hope for the best. ;)

What happens if they close the parks? Do you get your $ back or extend your stay for free?

Good point, I would love to know the answer to that also. Anybody know?

We had 4 hurricanes come right through Central Florida last year and Disney only shut down for 1 day. If this is any indication, chances are they are not going to shut down unless they absolutely have to. They were open on days when other parks were closed (sea world, universal). More then likely you will not get anything, you can stay in your room @ the resort, therefore you are using the room and the tickets can already be used for another visit, so I wouldn't expect any more compensation then a free flashlight in case the power goes out :)

I just wanted to know "peak" time when the hurricanes come in? Is this usually the end of August or so? TIA

Last year, August and September had a lot more hurricane activity than October. Charley, Francis, and Jeanne came through within weeks of each other. Just keep an eye on the weather before you go, since hurricanes can develop in October.

Hope that helps!

As was said, Aug & Sep are Prime time.

I went that week in Oct 03 and it was fine on that front, just a little warm still for our taste, so we pushed to Nov for this year.

Speaking of which: 97 Days 22 Hrs 10 Mins 18 Secs ::MickeyMo

We are going Sept/Oct 05 time frame. I asked when I booked since I live in Florida, the "what if hurricane" question. The CM said that Disney was very understanding when it came to hurricane cancelations. Some years Florida deals with no hurricanes, other years like last year more than average. This season is already above average generally speaking, but I am still making all my plans to go.

Let's keep a perspective on this. Prior to last year, WDW had been open for 33 hurricane seasons and the parks were only closed for ONE DAY in those 33 years.

That's not tot say that Orlando won't get hit by a hurricane this year, but the odds are against anything having any effect on WDW besides some heavy rain and winds.
