When is a good time to plan the next trip?

Just ended our first trip since 2019 and we had a blast. That said, it was an utter madhouse 10/10 crowd week and this was supposed to be a “low-moderate” crowd week from the predictions. Seems like this whole year is just going to be bonkers.

we want to get out 2023 trip planned asap but would rather avoid these crowds next time —does anyone see this improving in 2023? We were looking at early half of may or early- mid October

I think there is still a huge pent up demand for travel, so its probably likely that 2023 will also be unpredictable for crowd levels. I think as we see COVID restrictions relax, things are going to get a lot busier. Your best bet is still to pick historically low times, but plan for it to be busy.

Mid January is supposedly the only quiet time left, according to our CM friends.

Mid-January is MLK weekend, which can be pretty busy.

I think the best weeks left for crowds are the first two weeks of September. Lots of parents are willing to take their kids out of school for a trip, but few are willing to take them out of the very beginning of a new school year for a trip.

Travel in Europe is going to drop significantly meaning more people here will vacation here. Plan your trip now. Book now. Reserve now

In early-mid Oct. many schools have fall breaks and Columbus day week is very busy. Oct. in general has become very busy with the Halloween parties and F & W. It used to be really nice but it's nothing like 10 years ago.

If I wanted to go next year, I'd go late August/early September.

I do think crowds will start to normalize middle of next year....but I could be very wrong.

Similar to some posters above I think late Aug - mid Sept is still good as long as you can handle melt-your-face-off heat :)
Not only melt-your-face-off heat in Florida, but usually pretty excellent weather at home for people in Canada and the Northern US. That's why we never visit in October. We don't want to leave autumn in New England for what's basically still midsummer weather.

I’d say historically slow periods will still be slower than others, although busier than before.

Just go when it works best for you and hope for the best.

A bad day at Disney beats a bad day almost anywhere else.
