When in May did WL open?

I know that WL opened in 1994 but does anyone know the exact date?

Do resorts do anything special for their anniversary celebrations.

I was thinking about this the other day and forgot about it until someone posted on the WL FAQ thread.

I'm wondering if there will be any special activities going on while we are there.

I believe that the WL opended on May 27,1994 - Just in time for memorial day weekend. We stayed there about a week later. We had a courtyard view room for about $95 per night. I believe this was a Magic Kingdom Club introductory rate for the resort.

Yeah, they did offer some good rates for that first while. I was booked at CBR for my Honeymoon starting on June 29th for 2 weeks and I got a call at the beginning of may asking if I wanted WL for the same price, $89/night. Of course I took it, and ended up with a room on the main floor very close to the pool and pool bar. Pardon the expression, but we were 'spittin distance' from the bar.

I can remember going over to WL to walk around in June of '94. It was so new, the smell of the wood was awesome!
