Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself, now that I am all caught up . This is our "off" year and we won't be back until next summer So I am living vicariously through trip reports and I am enjoying yours very much. I am still not convinced I would go for the holidays (I hate huge crowds). But then again it might be worth it just to see the fireworks!

Glad you are here- Yes the crowds can be quite large but you can just zig when they zag and just plan for it and you should be fine. YOu should at least go once for the fireworks.

It was hotter here than in FL so in a way I did beat the heat.

I actually spent lots of time in the pool and midday naps.

The drive was actually very relaxing. Seemed like a quick trip, time really flew. Only a couple of crazy moments.

Glad we got to see you for a bit. We ended up watching fireworks from under the shipwreck. We could see the ones from Hollywood perfectly from our table. The trees blocked a lot of the ones from Epcot, so Anita, Baylor, and Brooklynn went up into the ship to see them better. Marc and I were lazy and just stayed in our seats. We saw what we saw and were happy enough with that.

Sounds like you got plenty of downtime, which was probably well-deserved. We have slowed things down with our 'touring style' these days, too. Knowing that if you don't get to something this time, you'll move it up on the list for next time really works just fine these days.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures you took and hearing about what all you did get done. The only thing I really know you did was that you saw a mermaid in Stormalong Bay.

I did make it in to EPCOT and got to see MK, DHS and EPCOT fireworks.

Oh yes I an definitely say I slowed down. For me having DVC and knowing I will have multiple trips will allow me to really relax and smell the roses.

I really enjoyed sitting and chatting with you , Anita, Marc, Brooklynn and Baylor at stormalong. I was wishing that afternoon would have been some more stormalong time so I could spend some time with Brooklynn in the pool.

I enjoyed seeing the Little Mermaid, like I said she is well on her way to the 2024 Olympics.

So I left you in the AKV room , in a snit with a surly teenager and feeling worn out and crappy.


I had gotten a text. Seems like Marv (Marvali) and 2 of his boys, Jonathan and Matthew were in town for the bowl game. Quick trip and no park time for him, only the game.

I had word they were eating in DTD and we hoped to catch up and meet afterwards. From what I remember, They were done eating and in DTD shortly after I got back to the room.

So I was, as I said, in the room, in a snit with a surly teenager and feeling worn out and crappy. We texted back and forth a bit and I tried to gather some energy to try and head back out but they way busses were treating me and the way I felt, there was no way.



I would have been terrible company. Congested, coughing and cranky would not have been the way to meet a friend.


We were both disappointed but there was no way I could make it out there. Even trying to take Chris would have a strain enough and I would never subject Marv and his boys to my surly teenager at that moment.


So Probably at about 8:30pm I WENT TO SLEEP. You read that right people, the queen of late nights and long days CRASHED.

Mon Jan 2nd.

I slept hard. And in other unprecedented news, I SLEPT IN. For me at least.

I was at AKL with a savannah view and had the opportunity to get up and make coffee and sit here to watch.

Of course getting to this point would be an adventure. This was the first time I have stayed here and I needed to figure some things out. Like the shortest way to Mara and back. I needed some creamer for my coffee. I think I made a left out of the room to find an elevator down. I came out by Simba’s Clubhouse but could not see an exit out by the pool right away. Obvious not coffee on board yet so it was even harder. I wander a bit and then the elevator opens and a guy is there. Sees me confused and about the same time I figure out where to go. I make a comment about not having coffee on board yet and we laugh. When I get out the door I notice I pop out right next to Mara. Score- that was not too hard.


I grab what I need and scoot back up to the room.

How I would love to spend EVERY morning.

North American Human. I never get tired of making that joke.

Moving slowly, it is actually close to 9 am when I make my way to the bus stop.

I cannot walk by the lobby without a few pictures.

I get to the elevator banks and notice the wind whipping up out the window. I double back and grab a sweatshirt. It is starting to get cold.

Who do I see? The same guy I saw when I was getting my creamer. This time he had a jogger stroller full and I could tell he was loading up and checking out.

I walk down and a bus is waiting for me. It is right at 9 am.

I crashed hard that night. I think the resort move and the allergies and just all the running around got me. I hate missing out on a DISmeet but in this case it was for the best.

Oh the view- yes it was great. That morning was cool so the animals were pretty ative but the next morning it was downright cold and well you will see the result there.
