When if free dining usually announced?

Sorry if this has been asked a million times already...I can't seem to find it in back-threads.

Can anyone tell me approximately when Disney announces free dining for September and October? I know it was August this year when they announced they were extending it later in the year, but I didn't catch the original announcement. I want to plan a trip for next October, but I want to make sure the free dining will be offered. Thanks in advance for your help!

Around Easter is when they announce the first discount. I think last year was the only time they offered in October. Mousesavers has a list of historical offerings.

They announce it in late March for trips in Aug/Sept.The free dining for October -December time frame was something new for 2009 and can not be guaranteed for next year

They offered this deal (or something similar) to Disney Visa cardholders in 2008 because we went in Dec 08 with free dining, but I have NO idea when that was announced.

Usually it's around the first week of April, first to Disney Visa card holders, and then the general public; but this year they announced it a bit sooner.

Yes they did.But it was not extended to the general public that year. Free Dining has been offered since 2005 for dates in Aug/Sept. Last year Disney Visa guests were offered dates in Oct,Nov, and Dec. This year pincodes were sent out for OCt,Nov,Dec , then Disney Visa guests were offered it, then it was made public to everyone.They still did not get the bookings they wanted and then offered the 4/3 deal. There is NO guarantee that this will continue this way once the economy recovers.

Thanks everyone! We ended up booking today. If free dining comes around again for October, I can take advantage of the deal after the fact. So now I just have to keep my fingers crossed!

Surfergirl, Disney tends to offer the dining plan for free in September (sometimes longer) -- stay on Disney property, eat for free.

we're just starting to plan our Disney trip. Maybe this is a stupid question, but when Disney offers free dining, is it usually full rack rate on the hotel rooms? Is it ever possible to get some sort of hotel room discount and the free dining packages?
