When does your tree come down?

ajk912, AnnaS, moon: Thank you! Yes, that is my house. Took that picture at about 2am, right after Santa came. :santa:

My mother ingrained it in me that Christmas trees stay up until the Epiphany, but this year, I'm eager to get it down sooner. What does everyone else do?

Usually I take it down on New Years Day. This yr, I took it down the day after Christmas. All my Christmas stuff is packed up.

Then again we did not decorate it, so it had to come down. It was a tree with lights and a skirt.

We wait until at least the 1/7. It's so sad to take it all down. Plus the house always looks so empty afterwards. The tree is, by far, my favorite so it's the very last thing to go. :sad1:

Wow is that stunning. I love the lighted wreath.

Normally, the decorations stay up until Epiphany or the weekend after. This year, we have travel plans in the first week of January so I negotiated with DS to take everything down and put it away for me this Sunday. :thumbsup2

My wife always kept it up until little Christmas. But work made her take off today and she used the time to take it down- the living room looks so bare.

At least until Epiphany. That's when Christmas season ends. Makes me so sad to put everything down :guilty:

Same here. Everything goes up 2 weeks before Christmas, and comes down 2 weeks after. We normally are out of town for New Years, but that trip got pushed back, so it may be January 13th before we get around to it.

When was Christmas - Last Saturday? Then my tree and decorations were all a memory by this past Wednesday. I am an OCD Grinch!:rolleyes1

When I was little my parents didnt even put up the tree until Dec 24 although other decorations were up. So we left the tree up well into mid Jan.

I put ours up later than most people; usually mid December. We dont have a lot of decorations up so it wont be that hard to take down. I will probably take it down Sunday after DD leaves for school. I need to get some new storage bins though so if I dont get that accomplished it may stay up all Jan!;)

UPDATE: All decorations are down (Jan 1) including ornaments off the trees but the trees are still up and lit. They will come down tomorrow. I will also need to reorganize the space where all this stuff is stored.

Tree and all decorations were put away yesterday since I had the day off and I am the main person who puts up and takes down in my household. DS did help with hauling the big boxes up and down the stairs and taking ornaments off the tree. We moved the furniture back to its proper places and brought the exercise machine back into the family room to haunt us again!

Why is it that DH loves the tree being decorated so much but won't lift a finger to help? Oh well!

And it always looks so bare after having the house look so warm and wonderful for a few weeks.

Now I feel like my vacation weekend has finally started:thumbsup2

I guess I'm the only one, but all of the Christmas stuff (including the tree) was taken down last Monday. I'm not a fan of clutter/busy-ness, so I'm happy to have it put away.

Last year it came down on the 26th. This year it came down today. I am glad to have my house back.

I normally like to keep it up until my birthday (Jan. 19), but that may not happen this year. Before, I was always in upper floor apartments and so was out of most everyone's eyeline. Now, I'm in a house and the tree's smack in the front window, so I might feel neighborhood peer pressure to get it down a little sooner.

Plus, today it's almost 80 degrees. It doesn't even FEEL like Christmas anymore. It was a little easier to keep up the illusion that the holidays weren't over yet when I was in St. Louis and it was cold and snowy.

We keep it up til it starts dropping needles. Right now it's still looking really good, so we'll probably keep it up til at least next weekend and see how it's doing then!

Our tree came down today. Everything is put away and the house is back in order for another year.

Maybe I'm a grinch but I usually start taking my decorations down the 26th. Part of the reason is because DD's birthday is Jan 3rd. By the time the last box of Christmas decorations goes in the attic it's time to start setting up for her party.

We went out of town on Christmas eve so I took my tree down on the 23rd. Didn't want the cats knocking over while we were gone. I was sad but glad its down and away when we get home. Especially since I am getting home tomorrow and 4 days later going to Disney for the Marathon weekend. The lights on the house is a different story.
