When does your school year end?

Here in NC, we are mandated start Aug. 25 and release June 10. This is because Senate Pro Tem Basnight (Dare County) pretty much wants it that way and the "save our summers" folks have given him lots of, um, funding to keep it that way (and earlier school start hurts his private business). Now, our mountain counties can apply for a waiver for an earlier start time due to the snow factor, but the rest of us are screwed. When we had a "real" calendar (read: no state involvement), we began on Aug. 6 and released on/around May 20-25, depending on weather.

In KY here and original date was May 27th I think, we are now up to June 3 and my kid is home again today due to snowy and icy conditions. Our trip is planned for 6/7-6/16, hope the weather gets better-SOON!

June 24th---but we are on our 3rd snow day today (and will probably have one more tomorrow)! We leave for Disney on June 25th----school BETTER NOT be extended!!!!

My kids both get out on June 4th, they go to two different schools. Luckily we have not had a snow day yet (knock on wood) or the date would be pushed back for make-ups.

My son here in Brevard County, FL gets out May 21.
My daughter gets out first week of June.

We're also out May 21st in metro Atlanta. We get an extra long summer this year and don't have to go back until August 23rd. Last year our first day was August 10th.

My son should get out May 18th, unless they add snow days on. We'll be at Disney on the 19th whatever happens (South Dakota)
