When does the timer for the park hopper start?

I will be arriving Tuesday night, we start the park in the morning. Can I pick up my 6 day hopper and start using it the next day? When does it "activate"?

EDIT: to be clear, I dont want to pick them up Tuesday night and "use" one of the days.

SOMEONE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG, but my understanding is you can pick up your tickets Tuesday night and they are not used until you actually go through the gates and have the cards scanned the next morning. In other words, you aren't using any of your days simply by picking the tickets up on Tuesday. Have fun!

Tickets are activited at first use through the turnstyles.

How did you get your tickets? If it's a voucher from a travel company you can go to the ticket booths and as noted by the PPs it starts when you use it to enter. If it a Disney E-ticket, you can't get that until you enter the parks, and thus it's active immediately.

Have you already bought your tickets? If not, buy them online to save yourself some $$$ then print them out as an e-ticket (pdf file). This way, it isn't activated til you walk through the turnstile and they exchange your paper ticket for a proper one
