When does the Olympics start? and is anyone else excited?

I always get excited when the Olympics come around. Winter or Summer, it doesn't matter. I always dreamed of being an Olympian in my younger (and more fit) days. I guess it also brings a strong sense of patriotism in me too.

Who else is excited?!

We've got a few local athletes that will be competing.

I love the Olympics too. I'll watch any of the sports, winter and summer. I just told DH and DSs yesterday that we need to start clearing out everything off of our Tivo so that I can "tivo" all of the Olympics.

the olympics run Aug 13-29...we are very excited in our house to watch gymnastics primarily...don't really care for the track and field stuff....

I am very concerned that something terrible is going to happen during the olympics...security has been tested there and failed several times....

Hmm.. I'd love to get my hands on a TIVO before the Olympics. Good idea!

Gosh I pray that that theory is wrong. But you know which such a huge international event such as that, it opens itself up to all kinds of weirdos.

I have always loved watching the Olympics--both winter and summer. I was elated when they changed alternating the Olympics every two years. This is probably the first time that I'm perfectly content staying home and watching the Olympics on tv compare to wishing I was there! I'm very concerned about security this time around.

I love the Olympics, both summer and winter. Of course, when am I arriving in WDW? On August 13, of course!!! Dh has already told me that there is no way he is sitting in a room, at WDW, watching TV!!! Hopefully, a lot of the events, swimming/diving for us, will be broadcast at night. Then we can sit at ESPN, eat and watch!!!

I'm super excited because I have a number of good friends involved with the Women's water polo team (coaches and players). They're ranked #1 right now, and it would be the first gold medal in the sport-men's or womens, even though men's water polo was the first olympic team sport.

I just hope the people I know do well

We don't really watch much of the summer games..maybe just the gymnastics. Winter ones are big here, thanks to figure skating. DD is glued to the tube when those events are on!

Has anyone seen the commercial for the Olympics where they have a bunch of people doing 3 taps on various things, and it's supposed to be like they're chanting U-S-A?

Love it!! Especially Tae kwon do, swimming, gymnastics, opening and closing ceremonies...Running and track really don't do it for me but I would watch the highlight because its just incredible how fit these people are.

Can't wait to watch them! My cousin's daughter works for McD's and won a trip to the Olympics and gets to be in a new McD's commercial airing during the games. Pretty cool!
