We were there the week before Christmas this past year. My kids couldn't get enough of the awesome displays! :thumbsup2

This year we may be there over Thanksgiving instead of Christmas. Are we going to be too early to see all the camper's displays? :guilty: We were planning on renting a golf cart for a night or 2 just to drive around and look at all of them. :goodvibes

When we were there Oct - nov 10 we saw people starting putting up Christmas right after Halloween. Most of it should be up in the rest of Disney by the time you get there, as far as the Fort people will start putting up as they arrive.

The fort is now enforcing how much you can put up, no more using common areas. We enjoyed the large displays as Disney does not do much for the Fort.

The major decorators are long timers at The Fort. So, by Thanksgiving they will be in full display mode. :santa:

The major decorators start changing their Thanksgiving displays to Chrismas the day after Thankagiving.

YEAH!!!:cool1: We will be there Dec. 8th weekend. Looking so forward to seeing the decor! Should we rent a golf cart???

I would say yes it is the best way to see and do everything Fort. I will never go to the Fort anymore without having a Golf Cart

Sounds like there should be plenty of displays by then! When we told the kids we were going to change our Christmas trip to Thanksgiving instead the first thing they said was they we're afraid they would miss out on all the decor at the fort. Glad to hear there will be plenty to see! :goodvibes

I personally switch my decorations from Thanksgiving to Christmas on Thanksgiving night.
After my boyfriend is safely tucked away watching TV, I go out and 'make Magic happen'.
I love it.

We camp the week after Thanksgiving and the lights/displays are always fantastic!

Yes, I'll be there the week after Thanksgiving. We will cruise around in my golf cart and enjoy all the lights / displays! :santa:

we camped Thanksgiving and the week after in 2010, and there were plenty of decorations up at the campsites. Disney put lots of theirs up overnight on TG. We were right by a bus stop - regular at bedtime, all decorated for Christmas by 7:30am next morning. Magical :santa:

You have to tour the Dis hotels - they all have a theme and huge trees in the foyer - FtW is bird boxes (trees up by HDDR), Wilderness Lodge was antlers; Boardwalk is carrousel horses. They build the trees off site and then bring them in sections and build during the middle of the night.

Dis at its best
