When does school start in your area?

We're back August 27th, last day June 13th (snow days can add 3-4 days to the school year!). I always wondered WHY??? that "Most Wonderful Time of the Year" back to school commercial started playing in July! Now I know...

Oklahoma City schools start September 2nd.

Out here on the northern west coast OR ours go back sept 2 or 3.
We're taking 2dd's out sept 17-26th 2nd and 4th grade...thinking like many who have posted, that they won't miss much in the first few weeks....review mostly.....still planning on getting work from teacher, (especially for 4th grader, she's very type A and will FREAK if she feels she's behind the other students)

Northern CA go back mid August.

August 25th here in central Pennsylvania. I grew up in eastern Pa where they don't go back until after Labor Day.

Lancaster County, SC : 1st day for students is August 11th / last day is May 19th... In the 11 years I taught in this county we started anywhere from the the 1st week in August to the last week in August, but the one consistent factor is that the # of days for students is the same across the state no matter what (180 days). On a side note, since the # of days is 180 no matter what, I think I would like year round school and getting a mini-vacation each season.

We're in SW Florida, and school starts August 11.

Our school here in Wilmington, DE starts Sept 2nd.

Here in Northeast PA our kids go back Sept. 2nd. We will also be there Aug. 24 - Aug. 31. We usually go this week and find it to be less crowded than the rest of the summer.

Northeast PA too, right at the edge of the Poconos. Our kids start Sept. 4. Guess that means they will also be running until June 19 again.
