When does Memory Maker start, after advance purchase?

We're taking DGD (6) to WDW in mid-March, and I plan to buy MM for that trip. I know I need to buy it at least 3 days before our visit starts. However, DH and I will be there in February and again in early March, and I don't want to use up my MM entitlements before the trip with DGD starts! So, how soon after you purchase does MM take effect? Alternatively, how long is it in effect once you start using it - 14 days? Longer? Should I wait until we return from our early-March trip to buy it? I know I missed the chance to buy before today's $20 price increase but I don't want to buy it and then "use it up" on photos of "just" DH and me before the trip with DGD!

You will be able to use the same MM for 45 days, so you should definitely get two trips out of one, and maybe even three. But even if you buy it now, it won't be used up until you go to download all of your pictures after your trip with your DGD. You will have the pictures from your February trip show up in your MDE, but as long as you don't download them, your MM will remain unused.

Wow, thanks for the information. I didn't realize MM was in effect for 45 days - would have bought it last night when I found out about the price increase! But at least now I know that I'll be able to keep the videos of DH and I riding SDMT and ToT in February!
