I'll be there August 25-31st. I can look up what time the sun goes down, but has anyone been there recently who remembers what time it really gets dark? I'm trying to schedule attractions at AK and there I some that I really want to do after dark.

Not sure but right now a 8:15 fp for the safari seems to be perfect to ride with it getting dark while on it. Roughly 8:50-9 is when I would call it dark. It should get sooner in a few weeks but not by too much.

There are several phases between day and night. It goes: Daylight --> Civil Twilight --> Nautical Twilight --> Astronomical Twilight --> Night. Most of us would consider Astronomical Twilight to be nighttime. In fact, the National Weather Service says this:

"In astronomical twilight, sky illumination is so faint that most casual observers would regard the sky as fully dark, especially under urban or suburban light pollution. Under astronomical twilight, the horizon is not discernible and moderately faint stars or planets can be observed with the naked eye under a non light polluted sky."

According to a website called "Time and Date", the Astronomical Twilight times for Orlando between August 25-31, 2016 range between 9:16pm and 9:08pm. For exact times by day (and way more information than you'll probably need), you can visit the website.

"Darkness" occurs 25-30 minutes after "sundown."

Look up "sundown" time for any given date of the year and add 25 minutes.

BTW, the biggest unknown determining factor will be clouds.
If it is overcast, the "darkness" can occur much earlier.

I went last September. Last few days of August and first few days of September.

I'm from Indiana and was surprised on how much earlier it darkens in FL closer to the equator.

I can't remember the exact time...I think around 7:15 it was dusk.
