When do your kids go back to school?

Ours got out Friday the 19th and go back Tues. the 6th. I remember being surprised when I read some of your children were in school up to the 23rd! Mine are through with one semester now.

DS's school was out the 19th. But I kept him out that day since it was only 1/2 day and I wanted the additional day for travel...nice beating the crowds! He goes back on Tuesday, 1/6...just like me. No day to myself!!

Here they got out on the 23rd, ( and yes the only one in the area that had to go to school that week) and they go back on Monday.. The 5th

DS's last day was Tue. Dec. 23rd and they go back Mon. Jan. 5th. I have been enjoying sleeping in and leisurely mornings.

My kids also had school Tues. Dec. 23rd and they go back Mon. Jan. 5th. I, however, got to work through the holidays - only had Christmas Day and New Year's Day off. My DH has been home with the two teenagers.....

Most districts in this area went until the 23rd.

Last day was Friday Dec. 19 and both children go back on Tues. Jan. 6. I have to go back to driving 3 hours a day back and forth to school.

Last day of school was the 23 and they go back on the 5. The semester doesn't end until the end of January.

Since you kids go out on the 19, I assume they started school sometime in August, and didn't have a lot of days off during the semester.

NYC public schools started September 8;a week after Labor Day. They were closed for Yom Kipper, Columbus Day, Election Day, Veterans' Day and 2 days for Thanksgiving.

Our last day of school will be June 25, I'm sure your kids will get out much earlier than that.

We started Aug 18th, got off Labor day, a day mid Oct, Veterans day, and 3 days for T'giving. The last week before Christmas the 17-19 were half days too. We get out May 27th. After our Late March spring break, we have no holidays the last 2 months. The last 3 days of school are half days also.

Our school seems to have at least a day off each month.
We started I believe August 13th ( it was early), then a day off for Labor day. Had almost a week off in Oct, 2 days off in November,

Semester was over with the last day before break, because my oldest was happy she doesn't have band any longer, but was still playing her flute all day Christmas Eve.

I believe they get out for Summer come May 20ish..

It's interesting to see how different school systems set their calanders.

Our kids will be out of school in two weeks for MLK day. Then they have a week out in Feb. for mid winter break, 7 days out in April for Easter break, Memorial Day, and Brooklyn/Queens Day.

For those of you whose kids go back on Tuesday, is Monday a teacher work day?

I flew home on Dec. 17th even though break officially started on the 19th (I had 2 take home exams that I did at home ) and I fly back to school Tuesday the 6th and classes for Winter Term start the 7th.

Yes, Monday is a teacher planning day here.
We also have that extra day off for Spring break. That Friday before, plus a whole week. We have MLK off also. I pretty much like our schedule.

Oldest who is in college finished finals on the 13th and got home on the 15th (they drove to Colorado from South Carolina) They leave to return tomorrow and classes resume on Wednesday the 7th. They will be out for the summer on April 28th.
Youngest got out the 19th =school resumes on the 5th

There's teacher inservice on Monday so school doesn't start here until Tuesday the 6th.
