I have an in ground pool and for years have always run my filter during the day. My brother runs his at night because he feels that the chlorine circulates when the sun isn't on the pool to take the chlorine out. Any opinions?

Our pool is located under trees. A lot of stuff falls into the pool day and night.
We run the filter 24/7. If we didn't, the pool would turn into a swamp.
He'd hacked into the thing quite a bit and I was hoping he killed it.
So far though, it doesn't appear to be dying.
I asked hubby if there wasn't something we could buy to take over and put into the ground around the thing to kill it? LOL I was just kidding though, I would never do that!!
Well, at least we don't have so much junk in our pool anymore, except for bugs.
