When do you mention your dining discount?

I'll be using the Disney VISA discount at several places. Do CM's prefer you tell them before ordering?

Seems like the first thing we're asked by the server is always 'do you have any dining discounts'? We have TIW, have had for years, and after that it's usually not mentioned again until the check comes, usually with the discount built in. If not, it's adjusted. Never had an issue.
Wherever you go, DLBDS, hope you have a magical time!

I mention it after i get the bill. Then they adjust it. If they ask...then before.

With an AP and a Disney Premier Card, do you have to mention one or the other? I think they are the same amount?

At the start of most meals, you get asked if you are on the dining plan. At that time, I say "No, but I am an annual pass holder" or whatever discount I am looking to get. That seems to take care of it. They either check right then, or ask for it come bill time.

In all the years we’ve been going, no server has ever asked us about dining discounts before the meal. The server will ALWAYS ask whether we are on any type of dining plan. There’s a difference. No need to mention discounts, including TIW, until after the meal unless you want to make sure which ones are offered.

Every time I eat at a TS location I'm asked immediately after being seated if I am on the dining plan or have any dining discounts.
Every time I eat at a QS location I'm asked after ordering and prior to paying.

From non-Disney experience, coupons and special offers always say you should mention the discount prior to ordering.

From Disney experience, the waiter asks about the dining plan (and often discounts) when they first arrive. That seems to get forgotten and I get a full priced bill at the end. They are always happy to readjust.

This may be their regular process though. One time I mentioned the Annual Pass discount but my Magic Band showed them my recently acquired DVC membership. That apparently had a better discount and they applied that for me.

So, whether you mention at beginning or end... make sure you double check the bill.

In this case, I believe one covers alcohol & the other doesn't (sorry can't tell you which... rarely order).

That apparently had a better discount and they applied that for me.

THIS is why I like to tell them early EVERY discount available to me. Then they can help guide & direct which one to use. (I have AP, TiW, & V).

I recommend you download the Mouseperks app, it will quickly tell you where, when, how much, & which type discount is offered and can be filtered by location.

Curious why anyone would choose to make additional work for a server and delay their own departure from the restaurant?

I keep seeing people talk about the “Mouseperks app” but there is nothing by that name in the App Store when I search. Is there another name for it on iPhones?

Usually they ask if I’m on the ddp when I’m seated, but they rarely ask if I’m using a discount. So I always tell them up front. And remind them at the end of the meal. Sometimes they still forget to apply the discount.

I always ask nicely if there is a Visa discount up front, even if I know that there is. That way, I double-check, and it gives them the heads-up that we want to use that discount. I also print out the list of restaurants from the Visa website right before we go to have the latest info. Look carefully, because many places offer the discount only at lunch/breakfast.

Remember - if you are using your Disney Rewards Redemption card, you are also able to use that Visa discount!!!! Love that double dip!

I’ve only been asked if we had a dining plan to use. I didn’t even realize my Visa card got a discount until after I handed it to my waitress and she told me of it.

It's not an "app" it is actualy a web site.

It is in the app store for android users. It is not in the apple app store. For that, you have to visit the website www.mouseperks.com & pin the website to your home screen, then you will have an app icon to press & bring up the info quickly.

We don't. When the server asks if we would like anything else or are ready for the check, we mention all the discounts we have and then give them the appropriate card for the best one. When we first started using TIW, we would mention it at the beginning and the servers said to just present the card when we got the check. It's really not a big deal, and we tend to eat at restaurants that we are not in a rush to leave and where servers have time to do their job properly, including handling the check.

I am not that technical. Guess I will just ask at places.

Server: Hi folks! I'll be your server today. Are you on the dining plan?
Me: No, but I have a TiW card.
Server: That's great. I'll need to see it when I bring up the check.

And then, when we are ready for the check, they usually ask for the TiW and bring me the check with the discount. Easy.
