I'm kind of puzzeled. On the day we are doing MK, the park closes at 8:30, but Wishes starts at 8:45. When do they actually make you leave the park? Do we have to watch Wishes from outside the park, or do they just close the rides, and let people slowly meander out?

Thanks!

Main Street usually stays open 1/2 hour to an hour after the park closes. They let you meander out. They will gently move the crowd toward the front of the park the later it gets. One time, a couple of years ago, Stephen and I were talking with some Disers we'd met a few days prior, Brandy and her new husband. We kept running into them, it was too funny. We were in MK, and just standing and talking on the bridge to Tomorrowland, after the fireworks. A CM approached us and asked if we were having a problem. When we answered no, we were informed the park was closed and please proceed to the front of the park. It was pretty funny to be kicked out of MK. The CM was very nice. I think if we were on Main Street, where most of the crowd was, we would not have been approached.

IIRC - They close the rides, and start closing shops not on Main Street. That *herds* everyone towards the front of the park to see Wishes, do some shopping on Main Street, and leave.

When you are all out of money:smooth: :smooth:

The shops stay open as long as people are actively shopping is what a CM told me. If it has been a while since the park closed and people are just "looking" they will ask if they can help them but if you are actively pciking up things and holding on to them, just keep shopping.

One year we hung out in the area in front of the castle where three is a circular area with benches around, for a good hour after park closing. At one point, a dozen characters emerged from the castle and we and the few other families still left got pictures of all the characters assembled together. Later we were gently told that the park was closed and we'd have to start moving out. It was a wonderful feeling to be one of the last to leave.

To do this, be last out that is but, maybe on my next trip I will.;)

My not so secret dream is to be the last one out of a park some day. The closest I got was about 10:15 in Epcot WS when the CMs followed a few of us stragglers out and closed the gate behind us. That's the first I knew there was a gate by China and the bridge. I've tried to be last, but after about an hour I always break down and leave, afraid I'll miss the bus. But they've never herded us out.

According to Corey Sandler, author of some of the Econoguide tour book series, Disney park closing time is the latest time a guest can get in line to ride.

There has been the "Kiss Goodnight" that takes place at Cinderella's castle about half an hour after the fireworks on some if not all nights. I'll leave it as a surprise for you to find out what this is. I hung around for about 45 minutes one night in November '03 and Kiss Goodnight repeated. Then I only saw half a dozen or so people widely scattered around the castle area so I left.

The funny thing is when a CM politely asked us whether we want her to take a picture of us (what she meant was: the park is closed, get out)

Why funny? We brought a tripod with us... why do we need her to take a shaky picture of us? LOL!

I missed posting on this when it first came out.

On our last trip to Disney, we saw Fantasmic on our last day. We had been on the far side of the stadium during the show and missed our stroller, so it took a while for us to get out of there. We still needed to get some t-shirts, etc. and were looking through the stores on our way out. We bought a clock and necklace and then headed over to one of the big shops of the way out. (I forget the name) We were shopping around and realized we were the only ones left in the store. We hurried and went to check out. The CM at the register still took the time to talk to us- we found out her son went to the same college as DH & DF- and didn't rush us out. When we got past the entrance gates we could see part of Illuminations while we waited for the tram. We ended up on the very last tram to the parking lot. It was a good thing we got that one; we had driven over to MGM after spending the day at MK and ended up having to park in the very last space in the very last row of the lot. It was hard enough having to walk from the tram stop after a full day at the parks, but w/out the tram it would have been really bad.

Even w/ the long walk, having that time at the end of the day w/ very few other people in the park and seeing Illuminations and the "thrill" of catching the last tram, made it a wonderful way to end our trip.:sunny:
