When do the southern schools start summer break?

West TN is usually last week of May depending how the calendar falls and your school district.

The second week of May is actually my favorite time to visit Disney. I don't find it crowded at all. Yes, it is busier than the fall, but check the crowd calendars. It's not that bad, except for maybe at HS for Star Wars. Mid May there is usually this short break where crowds drop off considerably between the end of Spring Break and start of summer at Memorial weekend. You'll have a great time.

Our family in FL told me they get out May twenty something. Around the third week of May I recall. We've gone as late as May 23rd and crowds weren't terrible.

A lot of southern schools are getting out later this year due to way too much snow. We are in KY and are getting about the earliest of anyone I know: May 30. Most schools in the state are into June, though the legislature decrees no later than June 15th or so (minimum number of days out of school for summer).

Our last day is May 21st. Deep South AL. No days added to school year due to weather. We missed 4 days. So we didn't have to change our dates.

I think you're only worry will be college kids, as a college kid myself we're done in a week and a half. And the AZ schools are out around the 21st, though we are a demographic for DLR rather than WDW

Last day for some of my kids will be May 15 and possibly May 19. Headed to Disney on May 20!

Orange County Public Schools (Orlando metro area) gets out June 4th.

I'm in Louisville, KY and the last day for us is June 6. Most of they school in KY with be getting out the first or second week of June.

May 22nd is the last day where I live in Georgia. High School Graduation is that evening - a bittersweet time for me and an exciting time for DS18.

And on May 23rd we'll be driving to Disney World. LOL

Suburb of Austin, TX, here. No days added to end of year for bad weather. Our last day is June 6th. And as soon as my last child is picked up, we are on the road headed to DisneyWorld! I can't tell you how excited we all are!!

Metro Atlanta - May 21st. You will still have school groups there. We usually visit the last week of May and the 1st week of June and there are still school groups there that late. First of May will have field trip groups there for sure.

I'm in MS and my kids are out May 16th. We're going to Disney the 8th through the 12th and hoping for low crowds

Tallahassee (north Florida) gets out May 30th. We are heading straight to WDW when the bell rings catching the last few days before the Florida Season Pass blackout dates start for the summer.

When are most schools planning field trips? Last year we went May 13-22, and there were tons of schools there.......especially in AK and Epcot. The groups were very large and caused big tie ups at some of the attractions. The impact wasn't as noticeable in MK and HS.

We are planning to go back this May (13-20) and hoping that school trips are over. If anyone has any info, please let me know.

Shelby County, AL (Birmingham area) gets out May 23rd.

Those of us in The Arctic, (That's anyplace North of Indianapolis) had at least a week added to the School year due to the weather.
Most, if not all, Northern schools are in the same boat and many people had to delay their plans to invade Florida in late May. It looks like the Yankee Hordes won't be arriving until the second week of June this year.
