When do the southern schools start summer break?

Decatur Al and most of north Alabama get out May 22.

I live in Texas, and my district's last day is June 6. It was end of May but we got extended over a week because of ice/cold weather makeup.

When are most schools planning field trips? Last year we went May 13-22, and there were tons of schools there.......especially in AK and Epcot. The groups were very large and caused big tie ups at some of the attractions. The impact wasn't as noticeable in MK and HS.

We are planning to go back this May (13-20) and hoping that school trips are over. If anyone has any info, please let me know.

Just realized we were there May 10-22 last year, and there were a lot of field trips at AK. They were extremely well behaved and well supervised, but the sheer volume of people did affect wait times. Now we are going a little later (16-25), so I'm curious if it will be the same. It never even occurred to me that schools could be getting out that early, glad I found this thread so we can be prepared if it's not as slow as I thought it would be! Up in New England, we are very late in June thanks to the winter weather.

My son's middle school band/orchestra/chorus will be at WDW May 14-17 and we get out of school for the summer on May 21 (metro Atlanta).

My son's middle school band/orchestra/chorus will be at WDW May 14-17 and we get out of school for the summer on May 21 (metro Atlanta).

That weekend is Star Wars Weekend right? Are they bringing a bunch of bands down for something to do with that or something else? I'm heading staying offsite after I finish our last day on the 14th so we can get a good nights rest and head back the next morning.

All I know is I've been to Disney twice during Easter week and there is no way my trip in May is going to be any where near that bad. Fastpass + or no....

This thread makes me feel a bit better about our upcoming trip...Looks like lots of schools won't be out until halfway thru our trip or after.

Here in central MO, my kids last day is May 21st, but we are pulling them out early and will arrive on May 18th (trip was planned before this wonderful winter we had!).

Third Grade Class trip for us is Animal Kingdom on May 12th.
