When do the horns blow?

My wife and I have watched the video of the Dreams and Magics horn battle at CC. The Fantasy also gave our ship a "When you wish upon a star.." send off when we left a port we shared with her last year (which is when we decided we needed to try a DCL cruise). We watched the Fantasy leave PC on Saturday and were surprised to hear just the basic ship horn and none of the special horns. So, our question is, when are the horns on Fantasy played or is it more random than anything?

On sail away, on leaving castaway cay, and at 12 noon each day plus random times.

Often to demand, ie if another ship sounds it's horn, or Disney ships meet, or say in Panama Canal when locals shout out for the horn.


The actual proper ship horn the basic one is sounded when other vessels maybe in the way or close, or for safety on our Alaska cruise in the fog the basic horn went off about every 5 mins.

Just off the Dream Christmas week. We heard "when you wish" horn 1 time in port in Nassau. On previous fantasy it was much more, so perhaps it is of the pleasure of the captain.

On our recent Fantasy cruise, the horns sounded at sailaway, at noon each day, and then the captain did the full compliment of horns songs I believe on the first sea day and the last sea day? I do remember that at least once they made an announcement that all of the horns were about to sound, if anyone wanted to record them.

By the way, barring fog as mentioned in a PP, the horns on the Alaska cruise sound only on sailaway and noon the first day going up the Inside Passage. Once you reach Alaska, the horns stay silent due to noise regulations.
