WHEN do the FREE dining plans...

normally get released? I am ready to book for august 2009 but do I have to book the dining plan now? I am going in the end of august to get the best hotel rate and the free dining plan, but how far in advance is the free one announced?

Free dinning has usually been announced in April every year that they offered it so far.
You can book your trip now and then when/if free dinning and offered you can call and have it applied to your package.
I am not 100% sure though if you have to already have dinning included in your package in the first place in order to get free dinning added.
I also want to say you might even have to cancel the rservation you have and make a new one with the free dinning offer.
I can tell you that once it is announced the phone lines are crazy and there are many here, myself included that wait and watch for the offer to be announced so the rooms and ADR fill up fast.

This year it was released 4/8 for disney visa members and 4/10 for everyone else. You dont have to have ddp on your package, just call and say you want the free dining offer. You wont have to cancel and rebook as long as you already have a package. If you have a room only then yes, you will have to cancel and rebook

They will only add free dining to your package if promotional rooms are still available in your resort - assuming your resort is included in the free dining promotion. They only allocate a certain number of rooms.

I had to change resorts ressie for 2007 when the offer became available.

It is generally available in all the resorts.However, there are a limited amount of rooms per resort for the free dining promo.Booking now with the hopes of adding free dining if and when it is available offers absolutely no advantage to you unless you are planning on going no matter what.Once free dining is announced you need to call and request that the promo be added to your existing pkg.If they have avail., then great everything works out.But there have been people that tried to add on free dp and could not , and have had to chg their resorts or even their vacation dates.The longer you wait when the promo opens up the less your chances are.The resorts that go the fastest traditionally have been..POp and the values,Poly,WL,CR,CSR,POR not neccessarily in that order .
