When do the FL/GA kids get out of school for the summer?

Anyone know? We are trying to plan a post-spring break/pre-summer vacation trip (before the kids get out of school).

We looked at May 4 - 9, and I've got a room at the RPR on hold for then, but out of curiosity, I checked the PBH, and they had no availability at all during those dates, and the HRH only had suites left when I checked online. Does anyone know if anything special is going on then?

I'm wondering if we'd do a little better pushing it out a week to May 11 - 16. Are the kids out of school then? (We're just hoping to avoid crowds, that's all. Well, and cheering conventions too, if we're being honest ;))

TIA!

June 1st here. They have to go President's Day and MLK Day to make up for Wilma.

May 24th for metro Atlanta. We were there during the second week of June last year and I did not think it was crowded at all. I have no clue why the resorts are almost booked for those dates. I think that would be a great time to go.

Florida calendars are here.

The two counties near the parks are Orange and Osceola.
Orange = 05/23/06
Osceola = 05/23/06
Hillsborough (Tampa) = 05/25/06

Looks like early May is a great time to visit. Only thing is, the parks won't stay open late. Still, I'd take light crowds with an early closing time any day.

the earlier in May, the better. the first 2 weeks are best, everything builds after that. before we lived here, we always vacationed the first 2 weeks of May.

Thanks for the help (and Rob I saved that link :)). We too take lighter crowds over late hours anyday!

Wonder why the PBH is full and HRH is showing such limited availability for 5/4 - 5/9? Any ideas?!

It's probably a convention. The schedule for that is here.

I don't really see anything yet for early May.

There have been reports of the onsite hotels being bought up by business people staying for conventions. That's one reason we think the prices have gone up.

Late January - Early May is a great time. Im an attendant on the Hulk Coaster and lines are rediculously short, especially during the week (mon-fri) in Feb through April... the ride is a walk on. Didn't start getting increasingly bad until about late June.
