When do presents go under your tree????

Ours go out on Christmas Eve after Kiddies are in bed! I hate a naked tree too... but for now my kids think EVERYTHING is from Santa!

We usaualy put them under as we wrap them or they arrive in the mail. This year, however, we have anew puppy, so maybe we'll hold off. She likes to eat paper among other things.

Well...Santa still visits here.So nothing goes under the tree till Santa comes Christmas eve:goodvibes

I don't understand, Santa still visits us too, and will until my girls are gone from home....and he will still come then because I love to stuff stockings. :) What does that have to do with gifts from YOU or from other family/friends? Why not put gifts that are from you under the tree? What about gifts for others?

DD's birthday is 12/20 so Christmas presents go under the tree 12/21. It is just easier so noone over for her birthday is tempted to sneak a peak. It also honors her birthday a little more. All gifts go under the tree then unless they're from the big guy.:santa:

Well, I know my kids would tear them all open! Atleast my one year old would! I dont know how old the OP's kids are! Also... my dogs... would rip the presents open too...they love gifts!!

I haven't wrapped anything yet so the only thing under my tree is a bunch of empty Christmas tins. I store fragile decorations in them and they get tossed under the tree so it won't be naked without gifts.

I'll put things under the tree as I wrap them, but will hold out the Santa gifts (Santa fills stockings and leaves one present for each next to the fireplace) and any gifts that might be obvious.

Not sure how my kids would do but when we used to put gifts for other people under the tree, my cats really enjoyed getting into them, especially if there were bows, ribbons or anything shiny that would catch the light, like metallic patches on the wrapping paper or even just a really shiny gift bag, the twinkle from the lights on the tree was too much of a tease for them. :lmao:

Gifts go under as they are wrapped. Santa leaves unwrapped gifts under the tree Christmas Eve. That's how it was when I grew up and that's how DH and I decided we are going to do it.

Since I was about 12 I stayed up most of Christmas Eve and helped my dad wrap his presents. The tradition of "Santa's Helper" continues to this day.

Now the kids in the family are my nieces and nephews. Their parents usually put out things Christmas Eve. I have put up stockings for the kids since they were born since the whole family gathers at my house that day and has since I was a baby. So the kids know Santa visits their houses and drops a few more presents at mine.

This year I'm just shoving their presents into their stockings unwrapped. They're not planning to visit before Christmas and it's a good place to put stuff. I may go back and wrap it Christmas Eve just to keep the tradition alive.

We have a tree in our living room and one in our family room which is downstairs. As I wrap, I put the gifts for relatives/friends/teachers etc under the downstairs tree. Christmas Eve we put the Santa gifts under the upstairs tree after the kids are asleep and the gifts from us to the kids--mine are little--they would peek. They usually shop for us/each other at the Santa shop they do at school and usually want to hide those somewhere in their rooms and not bring them out until Christmas Eve.

I have 2 cats who enjoy the bows, ribbons etc... too much!! All presents go under the tree Christmas Eve or my family will have chewed up bows and ribbons on their package!!

It is neat to see all the different Christmas traditions.

We place presents to Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, friends and the kids gifts to each other under the tree as soon as the are wrapped. In fact, we wrapped them in front of the tree and then just put them there this year.

The kids gifts go under the tree after the go to bed Christmas eve. Santa leave one or two big gifts unwrapped, and the rest is from us.

As a child, Santa left everything and it was all wrapped. When dh was a child, Santa left the most and they were not wrapped. So, we combined traditions and we really like it this way!

Also, the children open one gift Christmas eve and it is new pjs.

We put stuff under the tree that we get for each other and family as soon as it's wrapped, but all of the Christmas morning stuff is from santa, and that goes on the dining room table (too much for under the tree - each kid gets a pile).

Wow, I must be the only really disorganized one! I wrap a few things ahead of time but most I wait until Christmas Eve. Until I can pull out everything for all 3 kids, I can't be sure I have a relatively equal number for each kid from Santa & us. It's usually a couple gifts from both.

Plus I usually am not sure which ones I want to be Santa gifts until I take a look. Things I know they are each getting one of - like a book, I'll wrap ahead of time. Sometimes I pull everything out, one kid has too much so I keep some stuff back for their winter bdays.

In my house, Santa gifts were always wrapped in white tissue paper. Mom said it was so we never recognized Santa paper around the house. That worked great in our house too until this year when DD9 was comparing w/her friend who gets colorful paper! lol

We are in the "Not Till The Kids Are In Bed" Camp too. Everything is hidden until they are sound asleep on Christmas Eve then Santa comes and mommy and daddy do too. I love their surprise PLUS I like being able to see my Mickey tree skirt and all the decorations around the tree.
All of Santa's gifts come in Santa paper and absolutely no family gifts ever see Santa paper, that is the way it was when I was a kid so I stuck with it.
We also do the one gift the night before and it is always new jammies too.

Gifts to each other, from or to relatives and friends, all go under the tree as they are wrapped. Gifts from Santa are put under the tree once the kids go to sleep xmas eve.

Never had any problems with any of the kids (or DH) bothering the gifts under the tree.

All gifts for friends and family get wrapped and put under the tree as they're bought (and I get around to it). Almost all gifts from Mom and Dad are under the tree already, gifts from the kids to us and DD's to each other go under the tree. Santa gifts don't arrive until Christmas Eve (of course):rolleyes1 so the kids have a great suprise Christmas morning. Right now, we have about 25gifts under the tree. Can't have a tree without presents!!

It varies for us. Last year we put them out as they were wrapped, so far this year we haven't wrapped anything yet. I do like the WOW factor on Chritmas morning when all the presents magically appear though. ;)

As i wrapped gifts for my mum and dad, nieces nepwhews etc they go under the tree. Ant presents that get delivered to my kids before xmas from aunts etc get put under the tree straight away. As for santa presents well they never go under the tree. Each kid has a "chair" and santa arranges all the presents on them. The presents from santa are never wrapped. We don't give the kids presents from mum and dad. The kids have never questioned why we don't give them anything but if they did they would be told that we do birthday and santa does xmas.

Our oldest son doesn't believe in santa anymore but for the sake of the younger kids his presents are also only from santa.

Gifts go under the tree as they are wrapped. These are gifts to parents friends ect.. We also put gifts to our DD's under the tree as we wrap them also, they know not to mess with them.

Santa comes on Christmas Eve after the girls are in bed and those presents are not wrapped and go under the tree for Christmas morning.

Its interesting to see the different ways people do presents.
