When do presents go under your tree????

About 1 a.m. - the wee hours of Christmas morning..:santa:

All that is under our tree until Christmas Eve are presents from the kids to each other and for other relatives.

On Christmas Eve they will open new pajamas. Then after they go to bed Santa comes and puts the presents under the tree. We wrap most of them unless it's something really big.

When the kids wake up too early Christmas morning they find a couple wrapped books in their bed that they are allowed to unwrap and read until a more reasonable hour. That's usually 5 or 6, I tell them when the night before because they all have a clock in their rooms.

And this year they are each getting a new Wii game, but the games are really for everyone to share so I will wrap them each then send the kids on a scavenger hunt to find them after they open all of their other gifts.

We don't put things under the tree until Xmas Eve because between the kitties and the toddler things wouldn't stay wrapped. As it is, DD wants to get into the cabinet where the presents are. Plus Santa comes so it is easier to put them all out together, his are just in the front closet instead of the cabinet with the others.;)

Everything goes under the tree when it is wrapped except the 3 items that Santa will bring for each child. This year ds8 has been sure to tell everyone he knows that Santa is not real so there will be no extra gifts put out for him on Christmas Eve.

I hope you video his reaction to that! Please update on Dec.25th. I bet next year he will be saying Santa is real to everyone.

When we were younger, the presents went under the tree. Santa left us one gift and our stockings (we were allowed to open before our parents were up). One of my parents friends always double wrapped our gifts-we tried so hard to find out what it was each year. We were also allowed to open one gift on Dec 24th - it was always new pajamas. Then as we got older we demanded to pick our own gift (pajamas we didn't want). My parents wanted to get photos with us in new PJ's in the morning.

My sister's girls get to open up gifts from family (grandparents, aunts and uncles) on Dec 24th. I'm giving them new PJ's this year along with mammoth crocs. Then in the morning they open gifts from Santa and Mom and Dad. Then everyone meets over at our parents house for stockings.

We have a tree at home and a tree where we celebrate in the south. I used to ship everything down south and then wrap it all then ship it all back. I am so over that! So.....under our tree in the North currently are large items that I refuse to ship. They are from dh and I and are wrapped...but not tagged...they cannot stand it!!!:rotfl: Dh keeps even asking questions! In boxes to ship down south are smaller gifts and gifts from Santa (except one large one and I am going to tell them that I asked Santa to please deliver larger gifts to our house). When we get to Louisiana we will quickly wrap smaller gifts from us to kids, my parents, siblings etc. and they will go under the tree. Santa gifts are all put together (makes for LONG night) and set up for immediate play after the kids go to bed on Xmas eve! I love it!

Gifts go under as they are wrapped. Santa leaves unwrapped gifts under the tree Christmas Eve. That's how it was when I grew up and that's how DH and I decided we are going to do it.

Us too. This year I am parting from tradition and wrapping a few gifts from Santa b/c my oldest son loves to unwrap presents.

Tomorrow after taking my 2 year old to preschool, I am coming home to wrap gifts and place them under the tree. We've been lucky that neither of our boys has ever bothered any of the gifts. Neither have our dog or cat (althought the cat loves sleeping under the tree when there are no gifts :) ). My parents come over Christmas Eve and we always wait until the boys are in bed before bringing their gifts in so it adds to the excitement Christmas morning.

If I had any wrapped other then the Santa gifts they'd be under the tree.

All the Santa gifts are wrapped & stored away right now (I hope I remember where they are!!).

All the family gifts (not my immediate family but aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc...) are unwrapped & I really need to wrap them & get them under tree.

Heck other then a tree & a countdown calender, the Frosty the Door Stops I made, a wreath on my door & the lights outside I have no other decorations up. I keep saying I am going to do it but I have other stuff I need to do instead.

Gifts are put out after DS goes to bed on Christmas Eve, after 8pm, but more like 10pm due to the excitement!!

Some presents that are intended for family and friends that obviously not in our home are put under the tree as they are wrapped but those gifts of anyone living in our home are put under the tree on x-mas eve, just a few hours before we open them - we do our gift exchange on x-mas eve.

Our kids usually don't go poking around to try to open their gifts and everything thing is wrapped, no matter who it's from.

Christmas Eve even though Santa brings one unwrapped gift. My dog would tear open all of the gifts. She loves paper. :goodvibes

We also let the kids open gifts from relatives that send them, when we get them. They open so many gifts on Christmas Day that this helps them "make it" until Christmas. They do get to open a gift on Christmas Eve but it is just PJ's.

Plus this also helps us celebrate DD's birthday without worrying about Christmas gifts being under the tree. Her birthday is Christmas Eve. We try to make sure she gets the same amount of gifts no matter what but sometimes it is so hard on the budget.

Other DS's is Dec. 30th so at least I can hit up the after Christmas Sales.

LOL, thanks to this thread, I told DD9 that Santa brings different paper (white tissue at our house) than her friend's colorful paper because if he wrapped them all the same, he'd never tell the difference. That made her pause!

:rotfl2:DS tried to say well he could put tags on them but since they have never had tags, I just told him Santa doesn't have time to label all of them. lol I figure this is my last year of "believers" even if they are on the bubble so I'm gonna try to make it last!

My cat is asleep under the tree right now, and she is the reason I can't put any gifts under the tree until Christmas eve. I made the mistake of leaving one gift on my bed, and she had chewed thru the package in seconds. She is worse than the kids!

My youngest DSs birthday is on Christmas day. We have a party for him 2 weeks before Christmas and let him open all but one birthday present. The last one is wrapped in BIRTHDAY paper and left on the fire place hearth for him to open Christmas morning. :santa:

I finally wrapped some gifts a couple of days ago, and put them under the tree. A few more went under last night. We open these on Christmas Eve - then Santa comes, of course, and leaves even more. This year ds6 has alot - he's getting a new bed, so Santa is bring all the bedding, and additional matching decor for his room (Spongebob everything). I also wrap anything that I happen to buy at this time of year (clothing, Spongebob bandaids LOL) - he gets so excited about opening ANYTHING, I figure I might as well wrap it all and have some fun :) Heck, I even got the free Disney maps, and will wrap them for dh :rotfl:

Normally I would place gifts under the tree as they are wrapped, but with two toddlers I know better. Last year they almost got some of their gifts open, so I plan to put things under the tree on the 24th. Santa will leave unwrapped gifts in front of the tree, ready for play.
