Hello,
We purchased our first DVC (resale) this month and deed was recorded in our name on 1/11/2016. How long before I receive the log in info and member paperwork from Disney? We are anxious to book our trip for the end of September! Thank you.

Our closing docs are supposed to be recorded tomorrow or Thursday. From my understanding it can take Disney 7-21 days to get the new member packet out to you.

We received our letter with our membership number 12 days after our deed was recorded. I was surprised how quick we received our letter. This was in December.

Check out the end of this thread. There is much discussion going on about member accounting and people not receiving their membership letter. My dead was recorded on the 4th of Jan and I have not received my member letter yet. My friend's dead was recorded on the 6th and still nothing for him. Everything at DVC has slowed to a snails pace after the new year. I think that they are too busy processing dues.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as long as the Deed has been recorded, can't you still call in to Member Services to use your membership? Is the member kit strictly necessary?

We need the number. Most reps won't talk to you unless you have received the number.

I have to admit I find it beyond comprehension that in this day & age they are using snail-mail & not a text or e-mail to send out the member number. I mean they have my phone # and e-mail. Even drop it somewhere in my MDE acct - we've all got one for crying out loud. Will be 2 wks waiting for me tomorrow :bored:.

Contact MS and give them your SSN to access your account info.

I don't have an SSN - I'm Canadian. I was wondering about that since I have never given anyone my Canadian SIN how they would even know what it is? Do American buyers submit their SSN when buying resale?

I have tried that and it doesn't work. I am an existing member and because it's a different use year AND resale I will get a new number and have to wait for it. But I honestly think it all depends who you get on the phone. I have had some very helpful CMs that helped me before I was in the system. Had I been in already, I feel they would have gladly given me the number.

I think you are correct. I called today and spoke with admin. I explained when I closed and she asked me if I bought resale. She then told me resale is taking 6 weeks or more right now since they need to clear all the paperwork. More than 6 weeks is ridiculous!

Several weeks ago, I was delusional thinking if I spoke to DVC accounting they might could help me with the estoppel process. A very helpful lady asked what information I had so she could possibly help. I, of course, had no information. She asked for my contract number. She was able to pull up the membership that way. No help for me, but maybe it could help others obtain their membership information after finding their deed recorded by OC.

I guess everyone probably already knew this but me, the contract number does not change with Disney when one owner sells to another.

Our deed was recorded on the 8th of January and we have not received our member number. Pretty ridiculous that our first payment will be due in a week and yet we still can't access our account. Good luck to all of you in a similar circumstance.

I'm selling a contract. The warranty deed appeared on the Orange County comptroller's website on Jan 19. The seller is paying the 2016 dues and I see that Disney processed the payment on Jan 20 so I assume Disney received the paperwork to transfer ownership at that time. It is now Jan 31 and the contract is still in my account! I wasn't expecting the transfer to take this long.

I just called spoke to a very nice person in MS (booking). She tried to look me up and couldn't find my name in the system. I know the paper work was sent over, and I assumed that even if I didn't have a member number yet, they would at least be able to tell me they've gotten the paper work, I guess not?

6 weeks?!?!? That's nuts

I just received the welcome packet with the reservation point chart and dvc magnets in the mail today. Still haven't received the member number though. I was under the impression that the member numer came first and the welcome packet later. Am I mistaken?!
