And when do the end-of-school field trips start? My family and I are planning a trip to DL from May 17th-24th of next year. I'm really hoping to avoid crowds, especially an overabundance of school aged children. We'll be traveling with 4 toddlers so we'll have our hands full with our own kids. I also read somewhere else on this board that the field trippers tend to be loud, obnoxious and *line-cutters*. LOL Don't know how true all of that is, but just thought I'd check it out. Thanks for the info.

i did not notice many field trips until june this year--school usually gets out around first and second weeks of june, so i would think you would be ok.

LadyOrchid,

Keep in mind too that there are a lot of schools going to a year round schedule. This means that every child gets 3 months off a year, but different months, so there will be kids there that are simply off for the entire month of May. Don't get me wrong though, its still off season!!

The kids around here (Northern L.A.) are on 'track' system. Basically, there is ABSOLUTLY no rhyme or reason to when they are out of school. -- The kids that ARE on a traditional system usually get out at the end of June, this year they got out the end of May/begining of June).

If I were you, I would go as close to the begining of May as possible. IMO, late May/June is FULL of '8th grade graduation' trips (a common end of the year field trip around here) and bands and cheerleaders and choirs on 'tour'.

And yes, the field trippers are TRUELY annoying! Especially the younger crowds. I can't believe a parent would allow their 6YO to be so poorly supervised at such an overwhelming location! We were there 2 weeks ago and decided we'd rather go on the crowded weekends full of kids that actually HAVE parents than on the less crowded weekdays full of 10 kids per teenager chaperon.
