When Did I get Voted Off of Skinny Island #2: Castaway's Land Ho!!!!

Hi all!
Well, I made up for my last week's nice loss with a nice little gain! This is me - up and down, up and down...

:mickeyjum

+1.8 this week. No surprise - those dang sweet potatoes loaded with butter, brown sugar and marshmallows went down easy! Along with some wine, snacks, etc.

So back to it. I think I better get in the habit of exercising. This month will prove to be challenging with all the holiday treats and festivities! Must summon all my will power and restraint!!

Here's to a good December for everyone! Just think, once it's over we can either feel guilty and beat ourselves up and "start again" January 1, OR we can hold on for 31 days and start off ahead of the game in Jan., feeling good.

I think I can do 31 days...one day at a time! Who's with me?:wizard:

:cheer2:I'm with you!! I'm with you!! I better be or I'm not going to fit into the smaller clothes that I am not quite in yet that I bought for my trip in January.:cheer2:

I'm with you, Michelle!!

Although I'm going to begin 2011 on the DDP...so, that first week of January may just net me a gain. :lmao::lmao:

Still, I want to be as low as possible between now and then, so that if a gain DOES happen (and I've got a few tricks up my sleeve for trying to avoid that) it won't be that big of a deal.

I WILL DO THIS ONE DAY AT A TIME...FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH OF DECEMBER!!

Home from my parents. Didn't even get on the scale!

Should have done that this morning but forgot.

So far my sugars are staying in range by just controlling my carb intake and zero sugar intake! YAY for no insulin!! (yet!)

The fashion show is gonna have to wait... I'm not feeling that brave! LOL

I promise there will be pics of the new outfits while we're in Disney in just TWO WEEKS!!

Already starting to check the weather forecast and trying to get lists of my lists in order. Gonna try to dig the suitcases out and start packing a little here and there!

This week is pretty uneventful. Next week there's the ob appt and DS2 has a speech assessment to see if he qualifies for speech through the local school system so a little busier!

Then I'll be in full blown Disney packing mode. Those last few days always seem to crawl!

Good luck to everyone! December one day at a time sounds like a good plan to me!

:goodvibes

ME ME ME ME ME!!!!:cheer2::cheer2:

I am still determined to lose 15 more pounds before January 17! I am officially smaller now than last visit (although just by a couple of pounds) so I want to really do well. I mean, until I get there. :rotfl2:

Greetings fellow castaways!!!

This is Duchie, coming to you LIVE from SKINNY ISLAND! :beach:

My raft FINALLY docked here this morning. And the island is beautiful. It's so warm on the sand, the water is refreshing. :cloud9: Haven't explored too much lately but hopefully I'll find Raul and get a lovely massage later.

Oh sure, there were some rough seas this weekend. After the holiday and all that travel, I was actually +1.6, which I didn't think was too bad considering I didn't work out at all and enjoyed all the great food last week. Plus it was my birthday on Saturday so there was cake - carrot cake (my favorite), so I'm sure it was somewhat healthy right? ;)

But a couple of days of making sure I drank enough water and sticking to healthy choices have me down 2 pounds. So my official loss is 70.2 :cheer2:

For those of you following WW, there was another big event this week. They totally changed how the Points program is working. Is anyone else struggling a bit with this? It's just that after doing it for so long, I had a pretty good idea of what the point value of stuff would be. Now it's all different and I'm having to re-learn it all over again. So it's a bit challenging.

It's also finally getting cold here so I'm starting to pull out my winter stuff. These are things that I haven't worn since March. Ummm..... wow. Just.... wow . I simply can't believe how big these look on me now. With my summer stuff the loss was more gradual so I didn't notice it. But with this, the difference is drastic. I've got some shopping to do!

Wish I had more time to read and update. I do know that I'm in for the December challenge - one day at a time (LOVE that!!!). I'll try to catch up with everyone later. :)

Hooray for Barb!!

:cool1::woohoo::yay::cheer2:

I'm so happy for you and proud of you!

So, you can't leave us in suspense like that....what do you mean by the change in the points program?? Apparently we Canadians are a bit behind because our message still says that the changes are "coming soon" so I'm :confused3!!

So excited to hear you get to go shopping! I hope there's going to be a fashion show in your future??

Again...GREAT JOB hitting goal and making it to the island!

They're calling the new program PointsPlus. In the old program, points were calculated using calories, fat and dietary fiber. Now when calculating points, you use fat, carbohydrates, protein and fiber (calories are not in there at all). So if you have any foods that you've entered or recipes you've created, they all need to be converted using the new formulas. But now most fruits and vegetables are all zero points.

Because of the new calculations, you're now getting more points per day. Mine went from 19 to 29 daily points, and everyone gets 45 weekly points. I'm also finding that exercise earns more points than on the old system.

The conversion has been tricky for me. I'm finding I have to re-learn how many points are in my standard items. For example I always knew if I had one point left in the day, I could have a giant fudge bar or a 100-calorie bag of popcorn. Now both of those items are 3 points each. If I want that light beer or glass of wine, well those are now 3 points as opposed to 2.

With the old program, I think I was going to get an additional 4 or 5 points once I reached maintenance. With this new program, I'm only getting and additional 6. As a rough calculation, that's equivalent to only maybe 2 additional points in the old system.

So far I've found that the program is pretty much the same but the conversions are just a bit trickier. It's easy to see a bunch of unused points and think "Pig out time!". I have to stop myself often when I realize things are different now. USA Today had an article about it on Monday (link).

:cool1::worship::yay::woohoo::cheer2: BARB!!!

Congratulations!!!!!!

That new WW pts systems sounds wonky. I'm sure there's reasoning behind it but sounds like a pain in the tush for those that have been doing it the other way for so long.

They didn't give you the option of sticking with the old program?

Good luck with relearning everything! What timing on your part eh? Right as you reach goal!

Y'all need to remind me to not check the weather forecast 15 days out. IT changes drastically from day to day. Like a 15 degree spread from what it was showing for our arrival day yesterday to what it's showing today.

Kinda hard to start packing and planning outfits on a 15 degree spread!!

Happy December everyone!!!!!!! :santa::santa::santa:

I hope they do give people the option of keeping the old system because some folks might quit altogether if they find it too confusing. While I'm not exactly overjoyed at the prospect of relearning the system, I think it will be worth it in the end.

I think the "science" behind the new plan sounds reasonable. And I LOVE the fact that most fruits and veggies are going to be free. What they said in the article is true for me...if I only have 2 points for a snack...I'm not going to "waste" them on an apple...I'm going straight for my tasty bits!! :rotfl:

And who doesn't like the idea of "more" points?? Even though we're not really getting more, of course...you can trick yourself into thinking that you are. :rotfl2:

Wonder how long it will take before the Canada website is updated?? And I wonder if this is why the smart ones entrees have been on sale for like a month? Are they just trying to get rid of them here in readiness for the big switch?

Thanks for updating me and putting up that link. It was illuminating and now I can prepare myself so the transition is easier. :thumbsup2

It seems like I read somewhere that Canada was launching the program one week after the US. I can't find it anywhere now, but that's what I'm thinking. Hopefully I'm not leading you astray! :confused3

You go Duchie!!!

Raul sounds delicious:worship: enjoy!!

It's already the 2nd of December - I knew it would go by fast:lmao: ANYway...30 more days until we don't feel guilty on Jan 1.

Here's to a good day TODAY.

Couldn't resist the urge to try a few things on at my favourite clothing store today while I was out and about buying Christmas presents. :rolleyes1

Tried SEVERAL things on...purchased only two long sleeved t-shirts for $10 each (pics to come soon). I think that shows remarkable restraint on my part...considering the feast of items at my disposal. Although I should admit that I've been fighting the temptation to head to the mall here near my house (I went to the main mall) and check out what they have in stock. :rotfl:

I had this gorgeous pinstripe blouse on and it fit wonderfully everywhere except across the bust...I debated buying it anyway (it'll fit eventually) but in the end I resisted. I also tried on a skirt that was too tight to wear comfortably and looked like crap. The other things I tried on but didn't buy were okay or quite good (I  the gray suit jacket I tried on but at $59 and with nothing to pair it with, I left it behind with regret.)

Can I just brag a bit and say that I fit into most of the size 14 items I tried on!! :cheer2::cheer2: I'm hoping to be a true size 14 by the end of the month. I promised myself two new outfits during the after Christmas sales and if the prices are REALLY good, I may even buy something in a 12 so I have an outfit to look forward to.

Talked DH into getting a cell phone and the only way I could get him to agree was to get him a smartphone. So I have a crappy regular phone for another year (stupid contract) while he gets to talk, text and surf the web in style. Talk about a plan backfiring!!:headache: Still, he insists we share it so I DO have access to it when I need it. He's been playing with it for three hours now! Men and their toys!!

Day one was great and day two is going just as wonderfully! Wishing the rest of you an easy time of it this month!

:santa:

Well, so far I'm down about 5 pounds this week!
Yep, I'm on the stomach flu diet.
:scared1:

I had a bowl of Special K this morning and that was the first thing
since Wednesday dinner. Just had a Lean Cuisine for lunch, we
will see how it goes!

yikes bukkinsmom! Hope you're feeling better soon.

Crazy how we kill ourselves trying to lose weight and one stomach bug can do more than I've done myself in months:confused3

Anyhoo.....December 4th! only 27 more days of "good" behaviors so we can start off the new year right. I'm having a good day so far, hope the rest of you are too!

Have a glass of water w/ a splash of OJ in it to keep from getting hungry between real meals! :drinking1

Hey guys! I'm not doing so great on our one day at a time thing. Although I did scale back on the candy lately. I guess every little thing right?

Julie - way to go girl!!! I have a bagful of size 14 clothes to donate, I wish I could send them to you, but shipping to Canada is $$$. Want to come across the border? I'm just a short day or less from the MN Canada border!!

The flu is a cruddy way to lose weight!! Although, a few years ago when I was at my heaviest, I got sick for about a week and that kickstarted my loss. I have never been that high again. I say use it to your advantage!

So I'm baking cookies etc. this weekend and next. Mostly to give as gifts, but we are hosting Christmas, so I will have some for that. Must drink lots of water while I'm baking. Or chew gum so I don't eat the dough!

I agree - a splash of flavor helps me drink more water. I use those little crystal light packets too. I only use half of one and it's enough for me.

Anyone hear from Dawn?? Dawn, are you out there? I hope you're doing better!!!

5 pounds in a week - that is so awesome - congrats on that - I am up 5 pounds since the day b4 thanksgiving and can't seem to get back on track - wondering if I should let myself go for a couple more weeks - get to the new year and start over again - or take one day at a time and try to stay on my plan -
