The fact he is probably German or Swedish and not Latin and you are still trying to pass him as such...reminds me of the Grinch and his dog with an antler trying to pass for Rudolph! :lmao:

AUGUST 10 2010 DONE!

Gee, I've missed a ton of fun stuff lately!! I'm a little jealous I missed out on all the shenanigans!! :guilty:

While you guys were all oggling Tricia's hubby, :rotfl2: I spent seven hours today helping my parents get their second house ready to sell. They rented this place to one of my sisters and she moved out on the 30th of July and left it TRASHED!!

I felt so bad for my parents, Randy and I made arrangements to lend a hand today and we drove an hour to Chatham to pitch in. He was putting up drywall in the basement all day with my brothers-in-law and I tried to get the kitchen back into some semblance of order.

She (meaning my sister Jenn) left garbage ALL OVER THE HOUSE! And most of the drawers and cupboards in the kitchen had all of her crap still in them. Don't get me started on the state of the fridge and one look at the oven made me want to run away screaming!!:scared1:

I spent the first hour cleaning everything in the kitchen out and getting rid of the junk. I went through 2 garbage bags, several boxes of recycling and a ton went in a pile for Good Will. Then I had to wash out the cupboards, :scared1: fridge :scared1::scared1:and clean the stove top. :scared1::scared1::scared1:

We let the oven cleaner sit overnight INSIDE the oven...my mom's going to finish it tomorrow. :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:
Yeah, it was THAT gross. I did manage to get the door clean though.:thumbsup2

Then we broke for lunch. I ran my mom up to McDonald's so she could buy lunch for everyone and we ate sitting on the carpet whereupon we discovered the ant problem. No one wanted to linger so it was back to work and the kids helped me clean up all the crab apple that littered the front lawn. This was my idea. Randy told me he nearly broke his neck a few times when he helped move Jenn and family out of that house a couple of weeks ago. The lawn looks really good now...or it will after a quick haircut!! :thumbsup2

After that, the cupboard door knobs, light/outlet plates and vent covers were removed in preparation for painting. And since the men were still finishing the drywall (the did nearly the entire basement...at the last they ran out of drywall but they only need to put up about three pieces more tomorrow) my mom, sister (no, not the one responsible for the disgusting pigsty of a mess left behind, but the WW one, Cheryl) and I stripped the wallpaper in one of the upstairs bedrooms.

Meanwhile, my dad switched out several light fixtures and then took up the upstairs carpeting and the tile in the downstairs bathroom. My parents were staggered at the amount of work accomplished today with a relatively small work force. They still have a lot to do but are psyched that so much on the TO DO LIST has been crossed off.

I am going to be sore tomorrow. The backs of my thighs are already sore but hopefully it won't be much more than that. I earned myself 20 exercise points though, so it was totally worth it!! :cool1: We went for a dip in my parents pool and then had dinner there (they made us steak, yum) and left pretty much as soon as the dishes were done.

Randy went up to bed at 9:45 pm . He runs early in the morning and it really was a full day today, so my joke on the ride home about him falling asleep in front of the tv at nine thirty wasn't too far off the mark.

Will get some pics of myself modelling my new purchases and then post them as soon as I can.

Oh!! Saw the eye dr. yesterday and he gave me new contacts to try as well as new lubricating drops for my dry eyes. Maybe I'll be able to ditch the glasses more frequently. Cross your fingers they actually work!!

Exercise - 3.5 mile walk

Breakfast - whole wheat mini bagel w/ egg & turkey
Lunch - ham sandwich; way too many SunChips
Snack - Nutrigrain bar; Pepsi Max
Dinner - tuna salad; tomato; Laughing Cow cheese; fiber crackers; grapes

Total - 1256 cal
Water - 96 oz

August 10th Done! :woohoo:

I go to the dentist and you guys get all kinds of chatty!

First of all, thanks to everyone for the great suggestions. It was a great chance for DS and I to talk about making healthier choices, not just at night but all day long as well. Since he's so gosh darn picky some things just won't work (scrambled eggs are fine, but hard-boiled are a no-go, some fruits are OK but others are blech, yogurt is only OK if it's a Danimals.... you get the idea.) He has been going for fruit but for some reason he still felt hungry a little while later, but now he's doing better. I think the biggest thing for him was to give him alternatives to the junk food. Now he can just grab some PB toast - easy, not much thought, and healthier than the other options.

Went back and checked my note book - no change in two weeks on vacation!!! I edited my previous post. I'm way psyched!!!
Need to go back and read more of this new thread to get to know our new friends!

Even better news! :thumbsup2

To all:
Personal ramblings of a woman heading back to WW!

There is a piece in perfectionists that figure if you cannot do it perfectly, then jump ship. Often people think perfectionists have a home that is clean beyond compare and a life that is June Cleaver ready. Perfectionists are often the hardest on themselves and because they fear the failure of finishing something and having it not be perfect, they rather not finish at all so in their mind they can convince themselves that it still can be perfect if they just took the time.

Word.

Seriously, I'm a perfectionist. Willing to accept everyone else's flaws, yet harder on myself than anyone else. I'm still working on this to this day.

Also, I have no idea why I can't quote your other comment about using all of my WW points.... you're right, I know I should be using them all every day. And I really try to do that. I think the reason I don't is that I'm still not sure I'm calculating the points right, so I leave one or two as a buffer just in case. Plus I think I'm about to drop down 1 point per day, and I feel like I need to be prepared to have one less point per day (silly, I know, but that's just how my brain works sometimes.) When I use the flex points, it's only a few per week, and that's usually only for times when we get together with friends (in other words, drink beer.)

Um hello :wave2: My name is Bree and I've been a total slacker loser not keeping up with posting on this thread for weeks and weeks now.

Bree! :wave2: We've missed you!

:lmao: Brent's been potty trained for a couple months now. It took a lot of work, but he doesn't go on the floor anymore. Sometimes he feels the need to water the bushes outside when its dark, but that's a whole different matter

It's so good when we finally get our DH's trained. (I've been known to refer to my DH as my oldest child on many, many occasions ;) .)

OMG! I would so pay to see that!:rotfl2: You turning the hose on him, not him watering the bushes. See this is how Dawn gets me in trouble. Hubby just saw this and wanted to know why I wanted to see another man peeing in the bushes!

:lmao:

Young-ish... 36, I find him attractive, but there are those who wouldn't. Hmmm, I could have those that I charge to have him take it off and those that I charge to have him keep it on!

Here is a picture of us from last August, what you think?

IMG_2394.jpg

I think y'all make such a cute couple!

Regarding the “missing” castaways. I think if people haven’t sent in their weight in this week then you can bump them off the list. I’d keep their names on a separate spreadsheet so if they want to rejoin you won’t have to re-enter their info. I’d say going forward if someone doesn’t send in weights for 4 weeks than they are automatically bumped from the list. I don’t want to be mean either but it’s just a lot of work for you to send out messages each week to people that don’t respond. (you didn’t sound biachy to me).

I agree. I think there are a lot of folks who just need to step away for whatever reason. I hate to see them go, but I understand that this may not be the best fit for them at this time. Hopefully they'll come back and join us, but until then let's make Dawn's life easier.

I’m still waiting to hear back from the Dr. about my test results for the second round of thyroid levels. I can see the results and I’m more confused. Last week they were on the high end, today they are on the low end. My body is surely trying to drive me crazy. I took Jim in to get his blood work done today. He has a physical scheduled for Friday. He hasn’t had a check-up in probably 6-7 years and he hit one of those milestone years (nope not 40 or 45) a BIG number back in January and I’ve been bugging him to get checked out so he knows what is going on. I plan on living a LONG time and I don’t plan on being alone so he better get moving and stop treating his body like he’s 20.

Boy, do I understand thyroid issues (thyroid cancer 6 years ago.) I had hypothyroid before that and when they finally found the right dosage of medication it made all the difference in the world!

Attractive but the whole "gardener' aspect is not my thing...feeding me grapes in a cabana might work. If only he was a bit darker skinned and his name was Raul!

See, in my world the guy's name is just "Cabana Boy".

OK guys and dolls, I'm pooped so I'm off to bed. Nighty night! See y'all tomorrow!

Mornin' everyone. (I've got to get myself a cheat sheet for names and figure out how you all manage to do multiple quotes..)

Breakfast: cream of wheat, grapefruit, coffee. 6 pts.
Lunch: baked zuchinni (olive oil). 4 pts.
Snack: yogurt and granola. 5 pts.
Dinner: chuckwagon chili. 7-9 pts.? Had to ballpark it.
Water: 48 oz. (Gonna have to work on that one.)
Total: 24?? I know, it's a little low, but I wasn't hungry after dinner, got too hot walking and it was after 8, so I just skipped it.
Excercise: 2 miles? Forgot the pedometer again, and I even left it out on the counter. Going to have to do better there.

Veg. Done

Went to Y & ran 4.5 miles on stupid dreadmill. To make it interesting I bumped up the speed to where I was running a 8:50 mile for the last half mile. I felt like I was going to puke, but was proud of myself for pushing it a bit. Sometimes i just need to see what I'm made of ya know??

August 10 done
Veggies done

Ok, I have a question for you guys, especially those of you that are on WW like me. What do you eat to trick yourself into thinking you're full or getting something bad? See I only get 22 points a day & I like to save most or all of my flex points for one good (bad for me) meal a week. Makes me feel like I have something to look forward to. In the evenings, when I'm hungriest, I'll make a cup of diet hot chocolate & dr it up a bit with vanilla creamer. The hot liquid makes me full & the sweet makes me think I've gotten a treat.
What are y'all doing?

~b~

Soooo, Boy got his Black Belt yesterday! He had to break 3 boards and a cement block (more like a paver or a stepping stone, but still cement none the less). He makes it look so easy. I'll have to post some pics later.

Heres my tracking for yesterday...

Tuesday, August 10th
Bfast: homemade Chicken Salad w/ grapes & pecans (378)
Lunch: homemade chicken salad w/ grapes & pecans, homemade pasta salad w/ squash, zucchini, mushrooms & tomatoes (671)
Dinner: Wendy's Baja Salad w/ no dressing and no guacamole (390)

Total Cals: 1439

AUGUST 10TH DONE

Hi Bree!! Good to see/hear from you again.

Ummm....I have a few things that I do to trick myself into thinking that I'm having a treat, and a few things I eat to fill me up when I'm actually hungry but I don't think any of them fill both requirements.

If I'm in the mood for chips and dip...I eat rice crackers with light cream cheese. 8 rice crackers and 1 tbsp of cream cheese is 2 points.

If I'm in the mood for a sweet treat, I just have a one point ww cake or cookie or a two point brownie (so YUM!!) or I get a frozen diet treat (usually two or three points).

For filling up, I like to do veggies and dip. The dip is a red pepper white bean one and it's only 1 point for 2 tbsp which is more than enough for dipping veggies into. Otherwise I have soup (ranging from 0 to 3 points) which fills me up pretty well and (in the case of the 0 point ones) costs me nothing.

I guess this doesn't really help you much, does it? Sorry. I still get 30 points per day so I'm able to indulge a fair amount in the evenings as I usually have 6 to 8 points left over once dinner is done. I can't WAIT to get to only 22 points a day!!

I totally forgot something really tasty and zero points!!

1/4 cup strawberries with 1 tbsp light cool whip whipped topping is zero points and so darn tasty!! I guess this could be combined with the zero point soup and the snack would cost nothing but fill one up AND be a tasty treat as well!! I've never done the above together though.

There! Now I feel like I actually contributed something helpful.:rotfl2:

Do your parents still talk to your sister? Why was her happy hiney not there to help? Sounds like my youngest sister for sure!
Seriously, I'm a perfectionist. Willing to accept everyone else's flaws, yet harder on myself than anyone else. I'm still working on this to this day.
Hard to do and involves a lot of self talk.

See, in my world the guy's name is just "Cabana Boy".
See that is the difference between you and I. Raul has a name, he has a worth, he wants to be with me but at 27, he is still needing to care for his ailing parents back in Brazil and realistically, we know it will never work, so we just settle for longing glances as he readies my mojito!!! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Darn...if I am this slap happy after loosing 6 pounds...I will be downright giddy when I hit the 20# marker!!!

Mornin' everyone. (I've got to get myself a cheat sheet for names and figure out how you all manage to do multiple quotes..)
I NEED PEOPLE TO SEND ME THEIR INTRO AND PICS FOR THE ROLL CALL ON POST #2!!!!! PICS ARE OPTIONAL BUT PLEASE DO THE ROLL CALL!!!

There, I hope that helps with the cheat sheet!

As for the multi quotes...on the bottom right corner of every post is a quote sign and a + sign. Hit the + sign for every person you want to quote as you scroll through, then hit the quote button for the last person and it will zing you to the writing area, with all people you want to respond to.

Then many of us edit and erase the parts others write we do not want to quote in the response, because it would take up too much space. Hope that helps. Just practice here for a bit and you will get the hang of it!

I love frozen real fruit bars and they are 1 point. You could freeze grapes as well and snack on them. You would have to eat them slow and chew them like a frozen ice cream bite! Strawberries too!
Soooo, Boy got his Black Belt yesterday! He had to break 3 boards and a cement block (more like a paver or a stepping stone, but still cement none the less).
THAT IS JUST GREAT!!!:worship:

:rotfl2: You silly girl! You are helpful all the time!!!:worship:

Good morning, all!

Dawn- I think dropping the people not checking in consistantly is fine. I'm with the pp that suggested keeping them on a separate spread sheet to keep it easier on yourself also.

Julie- Holy guacamole you had a busy day!

Bree- Glad you're back! I buy the sugar free choccy syrup to put on my lowfat ice cream..lol. No fat, and like 15 cals per serving. It's thicker than Hershey's, but I actually like that on the ice cream. I also like the kashi cookies..130 cals, and I think 3-4 fat grams..but they're very bulky, I buy the oatmeal choccy chip ones. I don't do ww, so not sure how those things would be on points.

Barb- Another snack idea that your son might like..beef jerky! Low fat, low carb, tons of protein. I was desperate for something yesterday and remembered I had read jerky was a good thing, so I bought some. There's quite a bit in a serving as well.

Good day here yesterday, got my walk done and finished the last 50 envelopes, then went to return them without eating breakfast. I knew it was a bad idea at the time, but I didn't listen to myself, obviously! So get them turned in, go to Kroger and am starved, and nothing looked good! I ended up buying honey bbq beef jerky. (See above.) This is def something I will keep on hand now with it being as low carb as it is. I'm always looking for something snacky that won't add a ton of carbs to my count!

Funny story (now, anyway)..So I decided to go at a slower pace this morning and add distance. I ended up on a gravel road out here in the boonies, I was enjoying it, very shady, creek running beside the road at points. I had seen one dog, but it stopped at the end of its' driveway. I get about another 1/2 mile up the road, and hear two BIG dogs barking in the woods. Now, where I am, we're talking about the possibility of people having stills, pot plants, etc on their property.. (that's how far out it is.) So I get about 100 yds further and hear something absolutely tearing through the woods..I look over, and sure enough it's a HUGE pitbull. At this point, I'm doing my best not to panic, the only thing that kept going through my head was "That **** dog is going to bite me, **** I'm about to get bitten by a **** dog", etc! :lmao: So here it comes, and I just keep walking, I think I probably had peed my pants by this point..well, thank goodness the dog got about a foot from me, then went back into the woods. Well, I had about fifteen seconds of relief before the dog comes BACK out of the woods charging at me AGAIN!! I definitely peed my pants a bit the second time, but it did back off again. Now, I had been looking for a mailbox to turn around at (that's how I map my new routes), and the closest one was another 50 feet up the road. I stopped for a second and picked up about 3 good sized rocks, but it left me alone on the way back. I ended up doing a little over six miles, but the way that dog sped up my heart rate, I think I prob burned more cals than Spark gave me credit for! I'm thinking my next reward (30 lbs) is going to be a BIG walking stick!

Tracking-
Breakfast- Beef jerky.
Lunch- WW Chix Parmesan.
Dinner- Pulled chix on sammie thin, huge salad w/ FF cheddar & lite ranch.
Snacks- Yogurt, donut peach, RF ice cream w/ SF choccy syrup & lite cool whip, baked cheetos.

Cals- 1531 (1500-1850)

Exercise- 4 mile walk, 30 min treading water.
Aug 10th- Done!

I think I prob burned more cals than Spark gave me credit for! I'm thinking my next reward (30 lbs) is going to be a BIG walking stick!
I bet that was scary!!! There is a lady a few blocks away that walks with one because she was attacked by a dog on her walk in town even!

Speaking of walking sticks:

At Burn Camp, there is tons of birch trees and all sorts of wooded areas that have amazing sticks. One boy who was burned pretty badly, spent a ton of time and sanded a stick and stained it and then sold it at the auction they put together for campers at the last night.

It went for $130!!!!

His parents and I talked about having (him/other kids through here) start a business and sell them online and donate part of the profit to go back to these burn camps.

The fact Kenny was able to do such great work and found something with hardly any fingers left, that he can do well and build his confidence in, was so great to see. That kid barely spoke to anyone for the past 2 years and just lit up like a Christmas tree with all the compliments he got.

So anyway - your story brought it back to the forefront and I am off to go call the Mom now!! Thanks and I am glad you are safe!!!

Here's my info:

First Name and Screen Name: Sheree (pronounced Sherri) and Mndisneygirl

Goal for fitness: I'd like to be able to walk a few miles without losing my breath, climb a few flights of stairs without passing out. Total weight loss goal is 20 pounds. I've lost 12 since joining the first thread, so I'm on the right track.

Food hardest to eat in moderation: Chocolate, hands down.

Favorite good for me food: Fruits - love berries!
Favorite form of exercise: Umm, I guess walking. That's about all I do for exercise. I enjoy gardening too, but it doesn't happen often enough for it to be much exercise. I really dislike most forms of exercise, although I do feel better afterwards.

Goal for myself when I get to skinny island: To not constantly be comparing myself to others, just to feel comfortable in my own body and feel healthy. Then I'm going to put a a cute short dress and high heels and WOW my DH!

Family: Hubby Dave (13 years), DD9 - Sarah, DD7- Paige and Cody, our almost 4 year old puppy

So that's me. I have done some tracking, and need to refocus and get back on that after vacation. I haven't really counted calories, partly because I'm lazy and don't want to, and partly because I've done okay just keeping track of what goes in my mouth and trying to reduce portions. I've never been successful when trying to cut out foods, like no carbs etc. Just trying to keep it balanced so it doesn't feel "diet-y", but more just a way to eat healthy. I find if I deny myself something, I crave it more. So I'm making better choices.

I'll find a picture from this recent trip hopefully and post soon. I have to upload them today. Maybe there's one of me without a kid standing in front of me!

Hey everyone!!!!

Oh how I've missed you guys!!

We're home and boy did I need that vakay. Lemme tell ya. Wow. I feel so much better. Ready to tackle another chapter of my journey to Skinny Island. My energy levels are up, my motivation is through the roof. Oh to bottle this feeling and keep it on the shelf for when I know I'm gonna need it again.

Things at home are much better... we're still working on the underlying issues but it's out in the open and that's a good thing and it's not weighing me down every day. So moving on and upward, hopefully.

My sister went back to the doctor this past weekend for another ultrasound and her cyst is reabsorbing. YAYAY!!!! ALL of the issues that have been plaguing her for months are on the mend. Finally! Thank the Lord!!

School is starting in less than 2 wks. All of our back to school shopping is done. We're looking at getting another puppy for our long haired chi to have a playmate. She loved staying with my friend so much while we were gone because he has other doggies for her to play with.

Life is good and I'm ready to take on ME again.

I haven't caught up on the old thread... for now I'm going to focus on reading our BRAND spanking new chapter!!! WOOOOT for Skinny Island Part Deux! That's so awesome!

And Barb!!! OMG!! You look amazing and are such an inspiration!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :worship:

I will read and catch up. I'm so excited to be back and checked in again. I hate when things get so overwhelming I can't find my way out of a papersack.

Vacation and family time was just what I needed to get me back on track. I don't *think* I've gained much from my last weigh in with Skinny Island. I haven't gotten on the scale yet, since returning. Between traveling weight and TOM I don't want to derail my feeling of motivation by seeing an inflated number on the scale. I didn't eat great on vakay though I ate so much less than trips past. However, I was sooooooooooooooooooo proud of my level of energy. Pushing my 35 lb kid in his stroller up the wheelchair ramp at Main Street Train Station. HOLY cow! I shocked myself. So I can definitely tell the benefits even if I'm only down one dress size. PROGRESS!!

I buzzed around Mr. I and my mom and never got tired, never had feet pain. And it was HOT and humid!!! So :woohoo: for my energy and fitness level!

So glad to be back on this journey with you all!! Gotta get back to reading and catching up!

Much Skinny Island Love!!! :grouphug:

That *totally* sounds like something someone in my family would do. That really stinks, I'm sorry you had to clean up her mess!
