When Did Everyone Start Dressing Like Strippers?

Don't get me wrong I understand the "if you got it flaunt it" but when is that approriate in Disney????!!!

I have a 15 year old sister with whom my mother argues quite a bit because she will not let her leave the house with the rolled down pants or short shorts, but even when I take her shopping to Target!! The clothes that are made for them is not age appropraite.

When I go out to clubs on the weekend yes I will wear a mini skirt on occasion and a low cut top as well but that is where they should be worn not in Disney.

It is almost as if they want the kids to grow up too soon, they lose so much when that happens.

I just wish the appropriate individuals would wear the provocative clothing. The 300 lb blob of fat should leave the mini skirt and tub top at home.

Believe me, the way those babies are strapped in and thrust forward is not comfortable! I think the only place you'd see more push-ups is boot camp!!!

We have noticed more and more of this inappropriateness this summer in particular. I know that a lot of this is the non-americans, and I do know that they are more permissive. I certainly agree, there is a lot we do not want to see in a child-friendly park. I wish that some CM's would ask some people to "cover up a little". In August their was a girl at TL with her top off, and her bikini bottom pulled up and down so it was like a g-string (she was lying on her stomach). You should have seen the little boys walking by and gaping at her. I mentioned it to a cm and was told if people found it offensive they would say something to her, I told them I did find it offensive. I watched, and the cm never went over and said anything to her.

The oddest situation of this type that I've seen at WDW was an older lady who had obviously been dressing that way for a LONG time, b/c her skin was a mess from too much sun, very brown and looking a lot like leather, wrinkles and all. I believe that she may have been Brazilian, as I heard her speaking what I recognized as Portuguese.

Anyway, she appeared to be at least in her early 70's, and was using an ECV. The sorry state of her skin was quite obvious b/c there was so much of it on view. Her outfit for the day (at MK) was a black crocheted thong bikini with a sheer black mesh blouse over it, and the outfit was made complete by the 6-in black spike sandals she was wearing. She was also wearing a black straw hat with a wide brim, and huge sunglasses. Oh, well, at least she was finally trying to protect *something* from the sun.

We went to a Halloween party at a local club and was amazed to see one of the costumes that they let in. This girl said she was a John Deere Tractor. She really left very little to the imagination. She had on the tiny bootie shorts with black boots. She then had painted the rest of her body with swirls of green and a tractor across her chest. She placed it so that the tires were painted on a particular part of her body and she had yellow pasties as the hubcaps for the wheels (so you can guess where the tires were). On her back she had painted "John Deere tractor rides 5 cents".

My husband & I were a bit surprised that they let her in like that, but I guess since she had covered up part of herself, they felt that was fine. Another girl was in a red bra, red lace panties and a fur coat and nothing more.

One of the girls that came with my DD, thought she didn't have enough on. My DH told her that she was overdressed compared to others we had seen. She had on a top with a short skirt and the only thing she was showing were her legs and her shoulders, no bare midriff or anything.

The things that young people wear today totally amaze me. I take that back, sometimes it's not just young people. Sometimes it's people who are trying to be a lot younger than they actually are.

First, I'm pretty much in agreement with the sentiment of this thread. I frequently have the reaction -- at theme parks and everywhere these days -- that lingere are not clothes.

That said, does anyone else worry that we all sound like a bunch of old fuddy-duddies? There's definitely an aspect of "oh, I remember when movies used to cost a nickle," and "I just don't understand why that Elvis man has to shake his hips so much," and "remember that great blizzard of '62" to this thread.

When I go on vacation to WDW, it's a big deal. I want to look my best because it's a special trip. I take pride in my appearance and enjoy picking out and packing nice outfits to wear in the parks and for special dining. We usually go in August when it is god awful HOT and I have NEVER had a problem finding hip, heat friendly clothing that doesn't let it all hang out. It's too bad that others don't do the same. If you wouldn't dress inappropriately for a special occasion at home, why feel the need when you're away on a nice vacation? I'll always save my cotton short shorts and ratty tank tops for home!

No, I just turned 26 and completely agree. Quite frankly I've always made sure that I looked nice when I was out, and by nice I am referring to "classy".

I like to have my hair combed, nice shoes on, nice pants and nice shirt. I may like a necklace or a nice watch.

Even at my age and even when I was even younger I always looked at that attired when in public and thought that it just wan't very classy.

I agree with the man who posted the comment about men being accused of "gawking". I do not want to spend my entire vacation walking around WDW looking at the ground because: one I do not want to see the sight of these people and two because I might be accused of being a pervert!

Put clothes on and leave something to the imagination.

I agree!! I was actually a little embarassed by some of the outfits on our past trip. I mean really now, I know it is hot but we don't want to see your goods!!

Hear Hear. I agree with that one. When my DD was trying on costumes for the halloween party, she knew just what my DH would or would not let her wear. Though he did surprise us one day when we were looking at clothes for her. He picked out a top I would've said he would never let her wear. The front was very pretty, a halter, with no back and the section from the bust done was sheer, beaded material. When she tried it on, it really didn't look good on her but we found one similar that had some material on the back instead that looked 100% nicer on her. But we were both shocked that he had picked out this other one at all.

So the fashion police have spoken - only those who dress "classy" are to be allowed at WDW

Personally, I'm a "live and let live" kind of guy; when I'm on vacation, I've got dozens of other things to occupy myself with than condemning other peoples' clothing.

I strongly believe that a child is going to be a heck of lot more scarred by seeing murders and violence in the media than by a butt cheeck or cleavage at WDW.

I'm glad there are others who thought that MK was the wrong place to dress like that. We were at MNSSHP on Oct 25 and we saw 2 women wearing the same outfits. I guess they were an adult version of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. Short blue and white gingham dress that was low-cut and corseted with high heels and white panty hose which stopped at mid-thigh. My DD who is 7 1/2 yrs old thought they were Alice in Wonderland. I told my DH - I bet it is more like Alice in someone's adult wonderland! Those outfits can be tolerated if you were going to an adult costume party, but I didn't think they belonged at the MK.

Revealing clothes are only really disturbing when its a young child (saw one girl who couldn't have been more than 5 with short shorts, halter top, bare midriff and pierced belly button. . .a fake?), or someone who is making clothes skimpy because they simply don't fit in them.

The last thing that should concern people on a dream vacation is the way other individuals are dressed. I am amazed that after such a trip, this is what you want to talk about.
Focus on the positve and just be happy and content.

One major difference between them and you is that they are not somewhere on a board posting about the conservatively dressed people they saw at Disney World.
And please don't bring up how traumatized your kids were, because I guarantee if you ask them what they remember about their trip, someone's attire will not be mentioned...unless mom/dad/uncle joe dwelt on it for hours.

Okay, I'm no prude...but when did everyone start letting it all "hang out"? I was shocked at the number of women in the parks that were dressed in really low-cut, provocative clothing. I always think of Disney as family friendly but after this last visit...I'm now thinking Fredericks of Hollywood friendly. Is it just me, or does anyone else find this offensive?

Funny you should ask... when I was at Epcot in September, there was a woman in a pink bikini top and a very short matching skirt with ruffles on her "bottom". I was probably only a little less shocked than you...

Anyway, later that day I encountered three women in a DSA in World Showcase, and somehow we started talking about the way Guests were dressed. One of them had started taking photographs of Extreme Theme Park 'Fashions' and was considering doing a book. Yep, they'd seen the same tacky outfit I had - that was her inspiration
